Mr. Bootsauce - Do It Right (Viva Recordings)

Viva Recordings is proud to welcome artist Mr. Bootsauce from Los Angeles, known for joints on some respectable labels such as Salted, Large, and Good For You Records. His early house music pedigree was carved out in Montreal and later at a successful weekly party called UNITY right in the heart of Los Angeles. Mr. Bootsauce has always elevated his craft by making sure his cuts translated to deep thumping grooves where a simple shake or a head-bob would get the party going.

Tracing his roots back to jazz and rock, these influences are present in his Viva Recordings debut, the three-track Do It Right EP. It promises to fill various styles of DJ crates containing house music to deep house to nu-disco. Straight, bounding bass, thumping grooves, and precise rhythm elements all come to fore in Do It Right.

The EP begins with the title track, exhibiting crisp drums, warm pads carrying the melody, and cool vocal drops rhythmically placed throughout. “But I Know” follows adding some uptempo shuffle to the proceedings. It’s a flurry of percussion partnered with a gritty low end ride. The EP closes with “If I Speak,” a special treat for the depths of an after-hours gathering. Its sparse arrangement is complimented with a cool spoken vocal and atmospheric flourishes galore. Yep, this EP goes deep.

Glovibes & Ellis Miah - It's Yo Time (Bonanza Records)

Bonanza Records is pleased to present “It’s Yo Time,” a dose of tight and funky house music positivity from GloVibes and Ellis Miah. Seasoned L.A. DJ and producer GloVibes has co-produced a dance floor anthem-in-the-making with Ellis Miah, who previously sang on releases for the likes of Soulfuric, King Street, and Ministry of Sound. The result is a punchy late night stomper with cool horn section cut-ups, energetic breakdowns, and Miah’s rousing vocals. The remixes give DJs other killer angles on the tune, starting with Juiceppe’s old school disco version. This one’s filled with enough feel-good emotion to light up the darkest of nightclubs. And Handzoff delivers a different and brilliant retro direction, giving “It’s Yo Time” a pulsating synth-powered take transported in from the ‘80s. This single is primed and ready to ignite!

Vincent Kwok (Transport Recordings) – “The disco remix is hot!”

Runther - Dance With The Devil (Beatservice Records)

Beatservice Records, with a finger on the pulse of emerging artists from the vibrant underground electronic music scene in Norway, presents the latest single from Runther. A DJ, artist, party organizer, and founder of the Run The Rave label, the Tromsø-based Runther has released a handful of singles and EPs. But he’s been holding on to his track “Dance With The Devil.” Appearing in Runther’s DJ sets since 2016, the track made its first digital appearance on the Prima Norsk 5 compilation last August. As a standout on that compilation, and at the request of many DJs, “Dance With The Devil” now appears on its own single.

A slick deep house track with hints of funk and techno, “Dance With The Devil” features lush layers, strange vocal bits, and cool dance floor pleasing builds that lead to a swarm of staccato stabs. This single includes a ‘new mix’ that adds a rolling bass line and a snappy rhythm track for maximum DJ potential. DJ Gomp (AKA Minus Magnus, one half of Atella) remixes the track into a pulsing Italo-techno stomper, while Karl Fraunhofer (Sprechen, PLOINK) devilishly pulls “Dance With The Devil” into the dark and moody after-hours zone. Choice cuts from Norway’s underground … don’t miss out.

Colin Dale (Abstrakt Dance Records) – “Hot EP. The remixes and original are rocking!”
Snax (Random Records) – “Oh yeah! All mixes are cool, feeling it.”
Black Mighty Wax (Irma Records) – “It’s gotta good feeling.”
Lee Jones / Country Gents (Buslife) – “Wow, simply wow! All 3 of Runther’s versions are brilliant.”
Eric Davenport (Guesthouse) – “Cool vibe on DJ Gomp’s remix. Flowing baby!”
Roy Evans (The Other Side of Vegas) – “Nice groove and great blend of deep / techy elements.”
Sandro Bianchi (Ibiza Sonica) – “Dope original, re-originals and remixes.”

E1sbar - The Legend Of - Polar Vortex Records

Long distance duo E1sbar (pronounced Ice Bear) return with a maturation of their multi-layered chill-wave sound on The Legend Of. The pair, formed in 2015, blend Frank Cueto’s sweeping musical vistas with Piper Davis’ haunting vocals.

Davis is an in-demand vocalist with releases on Pamapa, Kompakt, and Anjunadeep. She has a distinctive vocal style, which in her own words; “sounds like a mixture of a woman an a prepubescent boy.” Cueto is a member of All Good Funk Alliance (AGFA), a prominent on the electronic funk scene for over two decades. Together as E1sbar, the pair are a definitively modern-day duo. Cueto and Davis have yet to meet in person despite their ongoing collaboration. A sense of distance permeates E1sbar’s sound and Davis’ day job as a flight attendant inspires examinations of her unreal reality; “I basically live on a cloud.”

On The Legend Of, Cueto’s production stretches sonically across slick futurescapes with E1sbar’s usual optimism. But where the previous release Looser Futurism explored themes of adapting to a life lived off the ground, The Legend Of is written from the perspective of a post-touchdown reintegration. Davis’ lyrical trajectory is decidedly less “alone in space” and more “looking for life.” There are distinctively grounded dance grooves and more terrestrial elements like the pedal steel on title track. Other examples are the sturdy bass line on “Star World” and the funk-tinged guitar of “Snowfall.” The sense of expanse is still there; glimmering otherworldly atmospheres resonate from track to track but the need for contact, collaboration, and humanity run through the record in a more urgent way. Real life becomes the promised ideal, followed by the recognition that, here in the future, even on the ground, it’s hard to come all the way down.

Steve / Fort Knox Five (Fort Knox Recordings) – “Top notch production and soaring vocals wrapped up into a lovely disco / chill wave package.”
Thorsten Walter (Jack & Jointz) – “All songs play on a high level. A good selection of modern synth sounds and futuristic vocals. This is perfectly mixed and invites you to relax.”
Vanilla Ace (Toolroom) – “This is a good one for chill out sessions.”
Rory Hoy (Howlin’ Records) – “Fantastic release. So beautiful.”
DJ Wash (Funk The System) – “What a cool release. Digging the vibes here.”
Jaesunel (Camp Monkey Business) – “Super dreamy, melodic and groovy. Excellent production.”
Phoole (The Chewb Radio) – “The entire release is fascinating and attractive.”
Quincy Jointz (Ibiza Global Radio) – “I love this album. It’s full of beautiful music.”
Jon Wesley (Music Goes On Radio show) – “Outstanding. It’s hard to pick a favorite, can’t wait to play them.”
Clairvo (Tilos Radio FM 90.3) – “Smooth and sexy, as nu disco tracks like these should be. It also maintains a certain funky edge. Great!”
