Juan Hoerni ft. Chezere - When You Smile (Cha Cha Project Recordings)

Juan Hoerni, the acclaimed and prolific Los Angeles-based soulful house music producer, reunites with vocalist Chezere for the uplifting floor-mover "When You Smile." Released on Juan's Cha Cha Project Recordings imprint, "When You Smile" melds crisp, disco drums, rousing keyboard riffs and chords, and an electrifying vocal performance from Chezere, drawing upon her history as vocalist with Urban Species (among many others). It's pure house music magic, available here in its original mix as well as a Wet Mix, giving Chezere voice some warehouse flavor.

The legendary DJ Spen (Basement Boys) joins the equally renowned Reelsoul (Sole Channel Music, MN2S) for a classy collaborative remix that demands hands in the air and feet on the dancefloor. Tight beats, string lines, vibraphone keys, and a dose of deep house bounce compliment Chezere's vocals with sultry sophistication. Juan Hoerni - Lost Tracks Vol II (Cha Cha Project Recordings)

Juan Hoerni returns with his acclaimed soulful house imprint, the Los Angeles-based Cha Cha Project Recordings, to unearth another set of top-notch house music tunes. Lost Tracks Vol II brings together three floor-primed solo tracks from Juan and three collaborations with names to those familiar with the Cha Cha family. The release begins with one of those collabs, the uplifting "Winter Love Affair" featuring the vocalist Chezere (Vega Records, Large Music). Chunky piano chords, a low-key disco beat, and exquisite live instrumentation brilliant back Chezere's emotional performance. The sweet, gospel-inflected tones of in-demand singer Maurice Smith can be heard on the lush and vibrant "Let Me Explore" as well as "Dani," remixed here with a tribal flavor by legendary New Jersey producer Jovonn (Body N’ Deep). Juan's three cuts are likewise as impressive, from the strutting Tenaglia-influenced vocal house of "Got Some Time" to the Latin-fueled deepness of "Deep Rumble" to "I Am the One" and its swinging ode to old school speech house. All these cuts are sublime and sophisticated, ready and waiting for DJs and home listening alike.

Hector Romero (Saw Recordings) – “Great EP. I really am enjoying Winter Love Affair.”
Groove Assassin (Pacha) – “These are slammers!”
Booker T. (Kings Of Soul) – “Wicked vibes.”

Juan Hoerni - Caviar Et Vin (Cha Cha Project Recordings)

A buoyant new single hits just in time for summer from Juan Hoerni, Los Angeles’s rising soulful house maestro, and his Cha Cha Project Recordings imprint. The Caviar Et Vin EP features three stunning deep vocal house cuts pulling from influences across R&B, disco, classic house, and Italo. Juan’s crystalline production and the gorgeous vocal delivery from Irantzu and Chezere make these tracks instantly stand out on the dance floor.

Caviar Et Vin”, the first of two songs sung by Irantzu, imagines a lost ‘80s club classic pulled from the soundtrack of a hip French film. A bouncing synth bass line, swirling pads, and a cooler-than-cool saxophone solo make this one perfect for night cruising. Irantzu continues with sexy French vocals on “Computer Love,” a song that deftly combines Rhodes piano, a vocoder hook, and the sound of a familiar robot friend into an after hours gem. On the third track, vocalist Chezere makes her appearance on “Unlimited Capacities”. Somewhat funkier with a groovy bass line and plucky guitar hits, the cut nicely builds, providing a satisfying treat for the house heads on the floor.

Greg Dowling (Fish Go Deep) – “I’m feeling the real deep vibe of ‘Unlimited Capacities’.
Tyler Stadius (Deepsite) – “I dig the retro sound of ‘Computer Love’.
Jeannie Hopper (WBAI FM, NYC) – “Fabulous and welcoming … the more tunes from Juan the better!”
Michael Fossati (Spirit of House Web Zine) – “A truly ingenious release.”
Simon Kirk (Stag Beetle Radio Show) – “Brilliant Stuff. I love ‘Unlimited Capacities’, such a groove.”
Billy Butler (D3EP Radio Network) – “Lovely release! I’m liking all of the tunes here, amazing job.”
Jaymz Nylon (Nylon Recordings) – “I pick both the sexy and groovy ‘Computer Love’ and ‘Unlimited Capacities’.”
Stefan Popovic (DiscoTone Radio Show) – “This is so in the box. Hoerni doesn’t miss.”
Jon Wesley (Music Goes On Radio Show) – “I like all 3 tracks, but I love the 80’s vibe of ‘Caviar Et Vin’. Nice work as usual by Juan.”
DJ Nova (Rodon FM 95) – “Juan Hoerni continues to make his own unique sound. This fusion of Italo disco, French disco and deep house is more than attractive. Soulful, pop and funk attitude follows each track which all of them have wrenching programmed synth work. You simply don’t know which track to play first.”

Various Artists - The Lost Tracks (Cha Cha Project Recordings)

Los Angeles soulful house label Cha Cha Project Recordings has been going from strength-to-strength, now spotlighting three of the label’s core producers and a trio of vital Lost Tracks.

The EP launches with label don Juan Hoerni in collaboration with the amazing vocalist Chezere. With a discography of over thirty cuts for the likes of Vega Records, Large Music, and WAX, as well as his acclaimed albums Love On High and Move Mountains on his Cha Cha Project label, Juan continues to make waves in the soulful house universe. “Eternally Free” shows Juan’s acumen for deep, melodic music complimenting beautiful vocals, as well as his sharp production aesthetic. This sexy sound will create late night dance floor action for years to come.

Steve Graeber is an accomplished studio saxophonist-turned-producer, known for his work with Chicago house legend Roy Davis Jr. as well as contributions to the records of Glenn Underground, Boo Williams, and many others. With vocalist Julia Prudence, Steve has uncovered “Filthiest Disco,” a deep and emotive cut that fuses the Chicago sound through its drum programming with the polished, soulful Cha Cha vibe. Funky bass, guitars, clav keys, and Steve’s trademark sax riffs make this a DJ’s choice.

Also part of the Cha Cha Project family is Zachary Mouton, an audio engineer who has been collaborating closely with Juan Hoerni at his Route 2 Recording Studios. While working with Juan on the Love On High album, the two recorded the funky, acid-jazz flavored track “Dirty”, which includes keyboard work from Scott Wozniak. This cut is dance floor fire, complete with a potent breakbeat, a jazzy stand-up bass line, catchy sax riffs, and a wild guitar breakdown from Zachary. Cha Cha comes correct!

Craig Stewart (Montana & Stewart) – “Superb dance music, great work.”
KJ (Integrity Recordings) – “Nice vocals. Tight!”
