Casomado - I Feel So Lucky (Friskybeat Records)

Casomado’s new track, “I Feel So Lucky,” is the first release since the Canadian/Chilean producer revamped his home studio to feature analog gear. Inspired by the memories and musical influences of his father's disco and funk collections, Casomado explores his sound with various new production techniques.

The foundational loop is a sampled groove shaped by an array of percussive samples, 808 drums, and a funk-acid analog bass line. Extracting from another record, Casomado blends a vocal verse inspired by a newfound love in his personal life.

The Cosmic Dub explores Casomado’s affinity for psychedelic music. Reimagining the original mix, he creates a landscape of texture and layered synthesis. With a spacey drum foundation and filled with effects, this mix caters to a more spiritual listening journey rather than a dance floor banger.

Exciting additions to the single are Luis Machuca’s Edit and Afro Mix. The edit focuses on Machuca’s favorite moments of the original, adding emphasis to the rhythm with a more house-driven arrangement. Machuca’s artistry stands out on the Afro Mix in his reprogramming of the drums, including a nifty bongo pattern and crunchy snare. Sitting beneath the rhythmic saxophone cuts and sultry vocals is a lush new chord sequence that gives a whole new dimension and playfulness to the cut.

Wilbour Craddock (Groovewest) – “Everything that makes people love house music … A great groove, sexy sax and a trippy spacial vocal hook. This is pure dance floor love.”
Gene Hunt (Rush Hour) – “Groovy baby!”
Al Mackenzie (Field of Dreams) – “The Afro Latin mix stands out.”

Luis Machuca, Max Zipursky, Andre Stepanian - Signs Of Love (Friskybeat Records)

Friskybeat Records presents "Signs Of Love," a collaborative venture between Label Owner/DJ/producer Luis Machuca, keyboardist/composer Max Zipursky, and flamenco-jazz guitarist Andre Stepanian. The three talents blend soul, funk, latin, and nu-disco house rhythms to orchestrate a tasteful offering for discerning music aficionados.

“Signs Of Love” is a splendid nu-disco flavored house cut full of energy and emotion. The framework for the track is a four-on-the-floor drum beat, driven by hi-hats, groovy percussion, and anticipated muted bass. The musical layers feature a vintage organ, lush piano strings, and electric guitar, all topped off with a soulful vocal loop to add extra heat.

The Synth Edit replaces some of the guitar parts with funky chord stabs and arpeggiated synths layers making the track slightly deeper and dance-floor focused.

The bonus track, “Get It Right,” is a superb latin house tune powered by slick percussion and frisky drum beats joined by a rich grand piano, evolving bass lines, warm synth pads, and electric guitar overtones and melodic riffs. The orchestration still allows the soul-powered vocal samples to take center stage.

The unique and signature voice samples in this release will leave the listener guessing … yet the singer's voice is so rich that it should be recognizable.

Andre Stepanian - Left It All (Friskybeat Records)

Friskybeat Records presents "Left It All," the latest single from jazz/flamenco guitarist and producer Andre Stepanian. Based in Vancouver, Stepanian has delivered a tropical dance groove that incorporates an acoustic nylon guitar for its main melody. Subtle vocal ad-libs introduce the track which are joined by swirling strings and guitar melodies. The Latin-house rhythm, funk-fueled bassline, and staccato electric piano chords shape the song's feel-good vibes.

Cool, driving percussion over more prominent kick and bass tracks flavor Luis Machuca's extended mix. The strings and pianos are jazzed-up a bit, giving the mix some added depth. In addition, the mix features a sultry female vocal playing call-and-response with the guitar melodies for some sleek deep house smoothness.

Casomado is on hand for a club-ready dub mix, stripped down with nuanced differences in the groove. A new bassline binds the percussion and pads to the bottom end while a groovy synth hook creates a haunting effect, wavering in and out of the tune. Affected vocals add texture while nodding to the original version's themes and motifs. Each track on "Left It All" is a dancefloor pleasure.

Casomado - Canto (Friskybeat Records)

Miguel Leiva is Casomado, a producer and DJ based in Montreal who draws influence from his early life in South America as well as the varied history of music over the past five decades. His multi-faceted house music sound moves feet and souls alike, and his recent experiments with Afro-house have expanded his sound in exciting directions. Casomado's latest single, "Canto," explores this further, opening with various elements providing rhythmic counterpoints over a strong bass line punch. Melodic chants are cut-up into the mix as short synth hits and subtle pads accentuate the vibe. A Jam Edit is also included, stripping down the elements and showcasing the richness of the drum track and bass tones. A crucial groove.
