Jeromy Nail - Don't You (Feel Me) (Uniting Souls Music)

Seattle’s Uniting Souls Music returns for its second release in 2017 with Jeromy Nail’s “Don’t You (Feel Me)” featuring remixes by Brett Johnson and Mikey V.

As part of the Uniting Souls Music collective since the early 2000s, Jeromy sharpened his DJ’ing skills on many late night dance floors, including residencies at the seminal Flammable Sundays – the West Coast’s longest running house weekly twenty years strong – and the (now defunct) electronic dance music haven See Sound Lounge. With releases and remixes for the likes of Viva Recordings, Build It Records, Bomb Recordings, Hype & Soul, House Call, and, of course, the Uniting Souls label, Jeromy’s been busy on the scene.

First up, Jeromy’s original takes the listener on a quirky, tech-house inspired journey built on layers of vocal stabs sprinkled over tinges of acid-flavored synths. With its snappy drum programming and uplifting vibe, the original mix is a unique ride from start to finish.

Next up, veteran DJ / producer Brett Johnson (Classic Music Company, Get Physical) goes a little deeper into the underground, offering up a stripped down and moody version full of lush synths, warm chords, and a thick bass line. With his distinctive style and superb production, Brett’s mix is sure to please.

Closing things out is up-and-coming talent Mikey V. Making waves recently with a slew of originals, remixes, and collaborations on labels such as Classic Music, Electrik Soul, and Salted Music, Mikey raises the energy a few notches with a funky tech-house remix that’s aimed squarely at the dance floor.

Zona - Time (Remixes) (70x7 Records)

Zona is an eclectic house music combo comprised of Dimitri Craven and Jerry Andrews, based in Los Angeles. The duo pushes a 'live' deep house style and has had previous acclaimed releases on Good For You Records, Kapa, and House Tribe Records. Zona focuses on the soulful and inspirational facets of house music, collaborating with a number of talented vocalists and players to realize their finely textured sound. 70x7 Records is the pair's own label, and recently issued the full length album Peace, Love and Understanding to much worldwide acclaim. "Time", featuring vocalist Valerie Moise, is the latest single from the album and is featured here with a quartet of fantastic remixes.

Respected house music veterans Eric Kupper & Lenny RX turn in a brilliant and moving version that displays their production prowess. Starting simple with a kick, snare, and syncopated bass line, the mix introduces the lovely vocal and quickly fills with layers of chords, pad washes, and dubby effects. Exceptional stuff. Mikey V, of L.A.'s Hawt Music collective, drops a high quality remix tailor-made for the underground, surrounding the vocal line with skippy beats, pulsing chords, and an all-around uplifting and deep vibe. Santa Monica's Agent Blak mixes up the rhythms for a punchy Broken Mix, and Reda Briki brings a deep, late night 'playa' feel with his LDN Switch Remix. Overall, it's a varied and distinct package that never lets go of Zona's core composition and Valerie Moise's seductive voice.

Mikey V - Feenin EP (Get Up Recordings)

Get Up Recordings continues its steady string of underground house releases with the Feenin EP by Mikey V, a DJ, producer, and vocalist from Los Angeles. A staple on the West Coast underground house scene since 2006, Mikey is best known for throwing the infamous HAWT parties. The EP includes two original tracks along with remixes from Sharper Image and Christy Love. First up is “Feenin,” a jackin’ vocal tech house track filled with quirky synths and a rhythm reminiscent of old-school Chicago. It’s remixed courtesy of LA’s Sharper Image, a dance music outfit consisting of Jason Gordon and Spencer Moore. They take a different direction, traveling along a deep house avenue with a fitting bass line and moody chord hits. The second original track is a funky tech house jam called “Just Add Boom.” Continuing with the Chi-town vibe, this one could very well have been pulled from the vaults of Cajual or Dance Mania. Rounding out the release is a remix of “Just Add Boom” from label co-owner Christy Love. Christy also produces under the moniker House of Stank with long-time collaborator and label partner W. Jeremy. She shakes up the recurring windy city element and cleverly molds them into the signature NEW New York underground house sound that Get Up Recordings is known for.

Mark Farina - “Bumping!”
DJ Heather - “I love Mikey V’s tracks. Christy Love’s remix is the biz, too.”
Gene Hunt (Rush Hour / Dope Wax) - “I’m going to bang this.”
Robert Owens - “Love all the tracks.”

Lorenzo al Dino (7th District / Ibiza Global Radio) - “Solid burner!”
Michael Fossati (Spirit of House) - “Groovy deepalicious take by Sharper Image.”
Bogdan Taran (Dance Box Radio Show, Latvia) - “‘Just Add Boom’ is my favorite here … both mixes, indeed. This Chicago house sound makes me wanna dance always!”
Sista Stroke (5 Magazine / ChicagoHouse FM) - “Snap, crackin’ boogie … this sh*t’s fun!”
Neil McCall (Spandex Sessions Radio Show) - “This needs to be played LOUD. Great tracks.”
QuestionmarQ (Red FM, Ireland) - “Love the madness of this release … reminds me of the old Cajual stuff, alright.”
