Anthony Mansfield - Bricks - (Green Gorilla Lounge)

Green Gorilla Lounge fills out its origin story with the re-introduction of founding member Anthony Mansfield to the release schedule. Since 2001, Anthony has been a part of the infamous GGL club night in San Francisco with DJ M3, his eternal partner in crime. His return is marked by the glorious “Bricks,” a groovy acid chugger that solidifies the sound Anthony sculpted with his cult-favorite Hector Works imprint. Hypnotic mid-tempo rhythms, psychedelic voice snippets, meaty synths, and big drum fills round out this dark-as-night DJ treat.

This single includes a chunky remix from Om Records staple Shiny Objects, adding bright synth lines, sparse percussive dubbiness, and spacey echo effects. And then, if that weren’t enough, another Hector Works veteran, Nick Chacona (Moodmusic, 20:20 Vision) joins Anthony for a surprise appearance with the wild dance floor sound experiment of “Pidgeon.” Trippy in all the right places, “Pidgeon” further defines the 3 AM sound of the Green Gorilla Lounge — that magic moment when things get simultaneously messy and marvelous. Sleazy disco warriors, unite.

Flash Atkins (Paper Recordings) – “Bricks original is doing it for me.”
ALTZ (DFA / Altzmusica) – “Green Gorilla Lounge is a groovy good time.”
Sean Johnston (A Love From Outer Space) – “It’s a YES from me!”

DJ Sabo (Sol Selectas) – “Perfectly weird and trip disco. Reminds me of NYC in the 2000’s.”
Black Mighty Wax (Irma Records) – “Sooooo Groovy!”
Robot84 (Paper Recordings) – “Bricks is sounding dope. Love that raw sound to it.”
Ulysses (Neurotic Drum Band) – “I love Pidgeon with Nick Chacona. Tell him to give me my hair clippers back.”

AM/TM - Sleaze Please (Aniligital Music)

San Francisco sleaze connoisseurs Anthony Mansfield and Tal M Klein are back with their sixth joint EP under the AM/TM moniker; entitled, appropriately enough, Sleaze Please. If you file this track under nu-disco (or nu-anything for that matter), we will find you and punch you in the perineum. This is Sleaze music; it’s dirty and unapologetic and will melt people’s faces off.

The title track, ”Sleaze Please,” is not a modest number. She will destroy your bass-bins and kick you in the nuts. At last count this track features no less than 10 analog synthesizers you’ve never heard of and drum machines that were invented before you were born. This track is so heavy that when we put it on a scale our phone number showed up.

A mystery man who called himself Heisse Scheisse clandestinely delivered a monster remix on reel to reel tape inside a bullet proof suitcase which also contained a latex banana hammock. After billions of dollars of research and vaccines, our detective team found out the man behind the Heisse Scheisse remix was none other than Nick Chacona. When we confronted him with our findings he said, “What the hell were you thinking with that bassline, I fixed your stupid mess and made a better track than the original.” He then shot us in the knees with a Desert Eagle .50 and took off in a solar powered jetpack.

The other original track on this EP is “U WANT 2” which basically repeats “you want to” until everyone gets naked and crazy. It’s delicate like an elephant with rabies on PCP. We recommend this track to people who are tired of playing records that sound like broken records. It’s big, it’s bad, it’ll make you glad.

Peter Kruder (Kruder & Dorfmeister / G-Stone) - “I like the Heisse Scheisse mix. I’ll play this.”
Sleazy McQueen - “‘U WANT 2’ … it’s mental!”
Three (Hallucienda) - “Uber sleaze …”
Sunshine Jones (Dubtribe) - “Nice and filthy!”
Dr. Dunks (Still Going) - “SLEEEZY!!!”
Q-Burns Abstract Message - “All tracks within are deliciously slinky and stinky.”
DJ Rocca (Ajello) - “Great release!”
Alex Flitsch (Connaisseur Recordings) - “Both the Heisse Scheisse remix and ‘U WANT 2’ sound great!”
Ulysses (Neurotic Drum Band) - “As a naked rabid elephant I prefer ‘U WANT 2’ when I smoke my PCP.”
Jim Stanton (Horse Meat Disco) - “Cool mood on these. I like it. ‘U WANT 2’ is great.”
mikeBurns (Disco Devil / Phönix Project) - “How low can you go? Love that hook on ‘U WANT 2!’ Great stuff.”
Leri Ahel (Mutant Disco Radio Show) - “All there tracks are amazing. Love them all and really have been loving all the latest Aniligital releases.”
Bruce Tantum (TimeOut NY) - “Very cool stuff. I’m loving the buzzy bass and grinding vibe. Can’t wait to play these out!”
Bootsy (For The Love Radio Show) - “I love these guys’ recent offerings. This is no exception. Class action.”
Sandro Bianchi (Ibiza Sonica) - “Five out of five stars as usual for AM/TM. Love it and will play all the tracks for sure.”

AM/TM feat. Navid Izadi - Back To Acid (Hector Works)

At this point you should know that AM/TM is Anthony Mansfield and Tal M. Klein. This is their eighth record together. You should probably also know that Anthony Mansfield has another side project with Nick Chacona called NCAM. In other words, Anthony is a collaboratively promiscuous producer who likes to make music with his friends.

Back to Acid" is AM/TM’s attempt to get an uptight and twitching world to instead be firmly crooked and messy. Coveting a return to the halcyon days of tripped out people melting on the dancefloor and raves in the woods, "Back to Acid" is a hard hitting trip with vocals by Navid Izadi. Add sweeping 303’s and crunchy 808’s and … well, what more could you ask for in a track called “Back To Acid”? On the B-side is an extended NCAM remix which raises the BPM’s and increases the attitude. It’s a family affair, courtesy of the family-oriented Hector Works label.

Mark Farina - “Nice.”
Ewan Pearson - “Both mixes are great!”
Justin Martin - “Definitely gonna play this.”
Alland Byallo - “Super, super dope! Great release, and always good to hear my boy Navid on the vocal biz. Will be rockin’ the remix.”
Giom - “Wicked! Loving this. Original for me.”
Sleazy McQueen - “Accciiiiieeeedddd! Nice.”
Android Cartel - “The original is dope!”
Tim Sweeney (Beats In Space) - “Hot stuff!”
Chris Todd (Crazy P / Hot Toddy) - “F**k yeah!”
Felix Dickinson (Cynic) - “I am, as they say, well into this.”
Tony D’Onghia (Radio Koper-Capodistria) - “This shows how a classic proper sounding acid affair should be done!”
DJ Humus (Sweat Lodge Radio) - “Just what the doctor ordered! Love love love …”

Also supported by Tommie Sunshine, Luciano, Abe Duque, diskJokke, Three, Justin Harris (Freaks), Atnarko, Treasure Fingers, Gavin Hardkiss, Orde Meikle (Slam), Johnwaynes, C-Rock, Omid 16B, Ray Mang, Ulysses (Neurotic Drum Band), Hardway Bros, DJ Spun, Magda, and Makossa & Megablast.

Various Artists - The Statra Sound: Unreleased, Reissues, & B-Sides (Statra Recordings)

Statra’s new GM Dan Mullins wastes no time in opening up the labels highly coveted masters vault to pull together what can only be titled THE STATRA SOUND. A diverse & eclectic collection of Statra nuggets that looks as far back into the label’s history as it does into its future! Statra has always been noted for focusing on the timeless and not the “now.” After listening to Dan’s careful selections and Nick Chacona’s heartfelt mixing as he pays homage to the label that pressed his very first 12”s, it’s no wonder why DJs and dance music aficionados near and far are thrilled that the label has remerged to once again excite and entertain.

The compilation kicks off with the moody armchair electronica of Geche whose remix duties for Statra alumni Chares Webster and Astrid Suryanto have earned him a permanent place on the label’s roster. Of course the Statra sound would not be complete without cuts form Chris J and Denver McCarhty whose subtle take on the detroit underground has earned them more TV, film and video game spots then any other Statra artists. The same can be said for the cuts contributed by Alexi Delano, Jeff Sharel, Nu Mood OrchestraJ. Axel, Astrid Suryanto, and Chris Lake, all part of the original Statra cast that has helped to create such an incredible catalog of electronic dance music. Label remix appearances by Mateo & Matos, Brendon Moeller, JT Donaldson, and Oliver Deutschmann are just a few among the many noted producers that always gave it up for the label. Sprinkled among the compilation you will also find cuts from the up and coming Statra artists Cassady Locke and Wata Igarashi, and never released signings from Niko Diamantopoulos (Nikke d), and SGNY (Stephen Green). Many of these tracks have floated around in digital purgatory since their original vinyl 12” release, but have been re-mastered and meticulously curated intoThe Statra Sound - Unreleased, Reissues & B-Sides. A compilation that brings together Statra Recordings’ prestigious past and provides a window into its promising future.
