Jeffrey Tice - Where Do You Go? (Harmonious Discord)

San Francisco resident Jeffrey Tice finds art and inspiration in unexpected places, whether it's gazing on the renegade street art of his hometown or crafting homages to his childhood heroes through his moniker Copy Correct. Outside of his re-works he exhibits a strong ability to harness everyday inspirations into warm and inviting musical works.

"Where Do You Go?" is a tale laden with a sentimental cast of memories and dreams and the intersection of warm experiences and a yearning to reach greater heights of happiness. The intro alone is a pensive reminder of soft autumn stillness with a steady build into more inviting dance floor material. Introducing the remixes, longtime house music veteran and Jacob London cast member Hanssen returns to the label to offer his unique blend of synthetic mastery and forward thinking tech edge to deliver a blend of perfected pads and driving arpeggios. Harmonious Discord mainstay Vital next ensures that the late night hours are covered with a techy rework, offering a more stripped down formula than the deeper original. Mexico’s Ivan Dbri completely flips the script with a deeper dub reminiscent of the Terry Lee Brown Jr. Dub Till Dawn series. It's NY-meets-Berlin with this sultry mix of late night pads. Label bosses PointBender and JDN round out the remix work with a chunky tech diversion that features chord repeats and a cornucopia of percussion. Finally the package includes another blissful contribution from Jeffrey perfect for house-minded mix sessions. "Folsom" embodies a brisk bay afternoon, and compliments its warmth with prevalent techno bass and vocal trickery. Stay tuned for more music from Jeffrey Tice on the Harmonious Discord imprint as the label celebrates its 15 year anniversary in the next year.

Dé Antonio and Dorian - Speak to Your Soul (Harmonious Discord)

Harmonious Discord artist Brad Dale is a master of many trades and purveyor of a ménage of styles and vibes. His projects span glitched-out techno tracks as Molecule, his indie-style folk work as member of the band Ishi, subversive and deep sound design under his eclectic moniker Echo Conscious, and, most recently, his collaboration with vocalists to create a fun, stylistic throwback sound which he produces under the alias Dorian. Recently Dorian has been teaming up with area singers to create a mixture of dance techniques with elevated vocal pairings. In this single he partners with vocalist De’ Antonio to reveal "Speak To Your Soul", a solid house music cut tailor-made for the dance floor.

The Can You Hear Me Mix is a tech house standard where the vocal presence drives the piece. De’ Antonio can be heard elaborating on the ever-catchy chorus line. All of this is backed by the type of intricate production styling that Brad is known for. The Moving Deep Within Mix drives a later-night approach with techno-tinged beat production and more pronounced synth work. It's perfect for trippy after hours shenanigans. Another Harmonious Discord fixture returns to give a drummy rework that sits right in between the two originals. Jeff Haviland AKA Vital crafts a balanced and progressive rework allowing the elements to build and accent in a more traditional fashion. These three versions combine to create a diverse house music single suitable for many nightclub situations … and one can expect to hear more from Dorian over the coming months.

Chris Udoh (Tigerhook) - "I love the Can You Hear Me mix."

Thesis / Vital - Corridors EP (Atrium Digital Recordings)

Newly minted by Jeffrey Haviland and Harmonious Discord’s Sean Anderson, Atrium Digital Recordings was born from a desire to release quality music of a ‘chill out’ nature. Keeping that mission statement in mind, they set the stage nicely with their first release, the Corridors EP, featuring two individual tracks split between British drum n’ bass artist Thesis and label boss Haviland’s own moniker Vital.

Thesis gets things rolling with his trip-hop single “Reflections”. It is a sunny afternoon tale woven from great broken beat patterns, gorgeous synth pads, and lovely keys, creating an atmosphere that’s perfect for disconnecting from the confines of the city for a little while. Considering his drum n’ bass background the breaks come as no surprise, fitting even at this new, more relaxed tempo.

Rounding out the EP is “My Island”, a deep bass single from Vital. Constantly fascinated by the power of combining organic and electronic sounds, he crafts a vessel great for drifting through a sea of solitary thoughts. Soft pads are accompanied by sparse vocals, shrouded in mystery. Rhythmic guitar plucks, seductive pad leads, and a slight reverb on the hand drums create a foggy atmosphere.

Tensnake - “This is great … lovely melodies and atmospheres.”
Nick Warren - “Two corkers … full support from me.”
Severino (Horse Meat Disco) - “Pretty cool vibe.”
Saulty (Downtown Party Network) - “‘Reflections’ is very beautiful.”
Irregular Disco Workers (Disco Volante / Mad On The Moon) - “‘My Island’ is really hypnotic … a well built track.”

Michael Fossati (Spirit of House) - “Laid back and gentle, yet full of positive energy.”
DJ Tomas (ForwardEver) - “‘Reflections’ reminds me of Solid Doctor and Fila Brazillia in the best ways, while ‘My Island’ is expressive as well.”
Deadbeat Disco Radio Show - “‘My Island’ is the sort of thing you hear in a coffee shop in Amsterdam and then you begin to melt.”
DJ Nova (Rodon FM, Greece) - “‘Reflections’ … its broken beat architecture fits neatly with the leftfield electronic and chilled side of music.”
CheckPoint Charlie (My Cuppa T blog) - “Lovely chill vibe. This immediately puts me back on the beach in front of Café Del Mar.”
Clairvo (Tilos Radio, Hungary) - “Lovely, charming, soul calming music.”
Deepshizzol (MyHouse YourHouse Radio) - “‘My Island’ is gorgeous … take me there now!”
Mark Mac (The Sound Collective) - “Two cracking tracks … deep, chilled, laid back vibes.”

KiloWatts - Windsong (Harmonious Discord)

Jamie Watts aka KiloWatts has an impressive body of work represented on the Harmonious Discord imprint. He has been an integral component to the shaping of the label’s sound, first appearing on HD with a glitched-out breaks contribution back in early 2004. Since then KiloWatts has been featured on three artist EPs, two remixes, and one sampler contribution for Harmonious Discord revealing his unique take on tech-house and IDM.

In early 2012 KiloWatts announced that he was planning on releasing a year-long project album, titled Acceptitude, focused on a return to his roots as a piano virtuoso. On the album, live piano was used to create musical compositions and marry them with electronic synthesis, effects, and sound manipulation. The project first appeared in a Kickstarter campaign where the fans not only helped Jamie reach his goal but shatter his projection. It is this type of organic fan connection that makes one love artists like KiloWatts.

As big fans of Acceptitude , Harmonious Discord chose one of their favorite album tracks for this latest single. “Windsong” is a hypnotic dream sequence blown away by brisk winds of change. It mixes precise sonic definition with happy accidents in time and space. Some great producers from the HD roster were selected to present their spin on “Windsong” … Ill76, Vital, and label boss PointBender (remixing another album cut, “End of the Year”) all bring their unique style to the remix project. From warehouse techno, to breezy electronic lushness, to deep four-on-the-floor house … Harmonious Discord keeps pushing the boundaries while catering to a variety of dance music tastes. With the inclusion of an exclusive new KiloWatts tune, the rhythmically daring “Three’s Threes,” this release should bring a fresh breath to the tech landscape.

Bushwacka! - “Vital’s remix is nice.”
Nick Warren - “Great release … all very cool indeed.”
[a]pendics.shuffle - “The original ‘Windsong’ is a cool one.”
Will SumSuch (DeepWit / Etoka) - “What a stunning package. So nice to hear some real artistry here … it’s all too rare these days. The original of ‘Windsong’ is just incredible, and the Vital remix is superb ,too. I’m also loving the Pointbender remix. Excellent all round!”
Makossa & Megablast - “Solid stuff.”
Adam Collins (Omni A.M.) - “Far out. Love it.”
Javier Varez (Alma Soul Music) - “‘Three’s Three’ is amazing!”
Joey Silvero (Distant People) - “Rocking sound … loads of nice sonic space created with the synths.”
Michele Vitucci (BTE Podcast) - “Massive release.”
Eric Davenport - “I’m really liking III76 Remix … it’s moody and groovy.”
Zach McCullough (Dance ’Til You’re Dead) - “Interesting use of textures here. It’s kinda like idiosyncratic house for an after-hours party during Holi Festival or something like that.”
DJ Aldrin (Zouk Club) - “I’m feeling the Ill76 & Vital remixes.”
Maxim Ryzhkov (Free Ends Multistyle Show, Russia) - “Awesome … I love this music!”
Jochen Saelens (Moustache Music) - “The original version of ‘Windsong’ is definitely a nice and intelligent piece! The Vital remix is the nicest and deepest interpretation, ready to be played in quality underground clubs. ‘Three’s Threes’ made me do an extra effort to analyze it, which is a very good sign, as I like some more difficult pieces.”
