DJ Sulli - You Party For a Livin' (Hype & Soul Recordings)

House music scene veteran DJ Sulli (AKA Sean Sullivan) delivers a bit of a surprise for his latest single on the Hype & Soul label. With the participation of his the H&S team, Sulli's taken a tune from a classic electronic band and shifted, recontextualized, and transformed it into a new … mode. This is "You Party For a Livin'," a peak time track that'll work like a Dream On the dancefloor.

The single opens with a version from DJ Lamprey that is perfect for low-lit rooms during after-hours moments. The synth parts are accentuated to emphasize the melodies as a moody vocal twists around the rhythmic backbone. Next up is a funk-fueled techy mix from DJ 5657 (AKA Cody Nasir). Most of the vocals are stripped away in favor of a heavy bass line ride, giving this a definite main room dub feel. DJ Sulli brings on the version that inspired it all. His All Night Every Night Remix is a solid warehouse stomper that evokes the latest of nights (or the earliest of mornings). Wild sounds abound, with gated vocals, pulsing sub-bass, and chunky, tight drums driving this one home. Sulli also provides an Intro Dub mix that works brilliantly as an opening tool to lead into any of the mixes.

All proceeds from this release (100%) will be donated to The Small Steps Project, a humanitarian organization and UK-registered charity dedicated to supporting children around the world who live on rubbish dumps and survive from scavenging.

Look for DJ Sulli's accompanying release of "Flamenco Dalliance," coming out simultaneously on Selekta Recordings.

DJ Sulli - Flamenco D'alliance (Selekta Recordings)

As a staple of North America's house music fraternity, DJ Sulli is responsible for decades' worth of memorable gigs and tracks for the likes of Uniting Souls, True House LA, and his own Hype & Soul imprint. Now he's joined Selekta Recordings for a new single (simultaneously released with a new single on Hype & Soul) titled "Flamenco Dalliance." The opening Party For A Living Mix is deep and techy, featuring a synergy of effected vocal hits, ominous textures, and a particularly crisp rhythm track. DJ Sulli then follows with the Deep Water Solo Mix, which throws down riffs from a sampled guitar for an exotic and transportive touch. The legendary DJ EFX (Strictly Rhythm, Freshly Squeezed) is also on point, delivering a chunky remix that'll mesmerize dancefloors with its seriously tracky late-night appeal. This single closes with a tribal-tech-inspired version from L.A.'s DJ ShaktHe that builds masterfully to euphoric heights. There are many flavors here, all representing house music bliss. Dive in.

Lamprey - Climbing The Walls (Hype & Soul Recordings)

Lamprey, the newest addition to the Hype & Soul Recordings family, has arrived with his "Climbing The Walls" EP. Featuring the wild, incoherent rantings of an ancient blood sucking creature, this release will have even the most seasoned ravers climbing the walls. As the night gets darker and the sweat fog closes in, you wont find any "islands of safety" in these dark room jams. This is one release that’s designed strictly for the big room.

The project kicks off with the Red Light Mix of the title track. Low slung, acid driven techno with pumping bass and razor sharp 303 rips. There’s no escape. Whatcha Doin? (Sweat Fog Dub) is designed for those late-nights, when that haze forms on the dancefloor. That ain’t smoke my friend. Bot Fly (Paralysis Mix) closes it all out in true morning fashion – Once its gotten under your skin, it's too late. A perfect soundtrack for the late night crowd.

Jon Fugler (Fluke) – “Bot Fly - wow - what a breakdown - faultless. Climbing the Walls coming in a very close second.”
Anthony Pappa (Bedrock) – “The Sweat Fog Dub is excellent.”
Arne Goettsch (Electronic Earthquake) – “Tasty sound. Support!”
Spaceotter (Camp Conception) - “Love the depth of Climbing the Walls”
Magnus Asberg (On The House Records) – “Yes! Full support.”
DJ Morpheus (Lysergic Factory Radio Show) – “Grooving nicely. Me dig!”

Dj Sulli - I'll Do Anything For You (Hype & Soul)

Hype & Soul Recordings returns with DJ Sulli’s mesmerizing new single “I’ll Do Anything For You.” The west coast house music virtuoso delivers two evocative versions of the original, and then brings on the renowned Andrew Macari (Toka Project) to add more magic to the release. First up is Sulli’s One Night In Paris Mix, combining subdued e-piano chords, swirling sound design, effected female vocals, and punchy rhythms for some serious late night action. This is followed by Sulli’s Breakin Beats Rerub, going even deeper with a touch a tech-house added to this tripped-out mix. A growling bass, ethereal pads, and intertwined vocal parts are all driven by a handclap rhythm. Midway through the breakbeats come in, taking things to another level.

Andrew Macari confirms his acclaim as a top house music producer with his Toka Love Remix. A swinging 4-on-the-floor beat and deep sub-bass lay the foundation for snatches of the vocal and a pulsating chord motif. Andrew’s accompanying Toka Love Dub further explores the rhythm, giving the DJs out there a cool tool for long mixing adventures. Another superb pack from Hype & Soul.

DJ P-REZ (Not So Fast Records) – “Yes! I've always dug DJ Sulli's work. Hell, I still play Saucy Posse out. This track is just as great. Throw in an Andrew Macari remix, and you've got yourself a winning release.”
FineCutBodies (Chi Recordings) – “This is a nice, groovy single.”
Vanilla Ace (Toolroom) – “Some cool vibes here.”
Simon Kirk (Stag Beetle radio show) – “Quality House Music. Love the One Night In Paris Mix.”
Michael Fossati (Spirit Of House Zine) – “This is a sexy dance floor jam.”
