Hot Lipps Inc. - Those Were The Days (Hot Lipps Records)

Hot Lipps Records is back with its second release comprised of three stellar cuts from producers Hot Lipps Inc., following up on their debut release from just a couple weeks earlier. Made up of Toronto based producers Peter and Steve Primiani, formerly of 83 West Records and Camouflage Recordings, Hot Lipps Inc. start things off with “Those Were The Days,” a dance floor gem with warm pads, a rich bass line, and synth melodies that drop after the break to keep things moving. Tastefully placed vocal snippets and drum fills add to this monster groove. This cut also gets the remix treatment from Orlando-based DJ / producer Atnarko (Dance:Revolt, Lazy Days, Noir) who delivers a top notch version with a deep and darker twist. The clever vocal arrangements that filter in and out of melodic synths and arpeggios help the track glide into the late night realm. “Drift Along” takes a turn into deep-tech territory with soft, subtle pads and a warm analogue bass line. A spacey vocal and atmospheric elements are introduced over the break to build excitement, potentially resulting in raised hands. Rounding out the EP is “Get Down Tonight” with its simple yet chunky synth bass line supported by guitar licks and a M1 organ stab. Things get kicked into a higher gear right after a soft and smooth break at the track’s half way point. Pure quality, sure to please.
