Stereogamous - Where Can We Find Love Again? (Get Up Recordings)

The next release on Get Up Recordings comes from Australia’s Stereogamous. No strangers to the label, Stereogamous turned out the remix for Brooklyn is Burning’s “Movin’ Too Fast” in 2014, but here we find them with their debut for the label, “Where Can We Find Love Again?". They are joined on this lush, gorgeous EP by vocalists Shaun J. Wright of Twirl Recordings and Hard Ton. Hard Ton also remixed the title track along with NYC House music maestro Tedd Patterson.

Stereogamous are the musical equivalent of Mardi Gras that runs all year. Paul Mac and Jonny Seymour have remixed or collaborated with Kylie, George Michael, Jake Shears, Sia, Sam Sparro, LCD Soundsystem, Faker, The Presets and loads more. Their music is best described as 'music for making out', under the genres of 'bottom 40', 'horizontal dance music', and 'bathhouse'. They have played in backroom dance floors all over the planet (Razzmatazz in Barcelona, Horse Meat Disco in London, as well as their long-time residency at Trough in Melbourne), mega festivals (Lovebox, the Big Day Out, Vivid), soundtracked fashion parades (NYC, Paris, Sydney fashion week) and also represented at Gay Pride events all around the circuit (Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco, Sydney’s Mardi Gras, Madrid Pride).

The EP starts off with the original mix of the title track. It’s a beautifully deep house song with a warm bass line and pining vocals by Shaun J. Wright and backing vocals by Hard Ton. Shaun, originally from Chicago, came up in the scene thanks to his talent, which landed him in the already popular NYC group Hercules & Love Affair. Hard Ton is the mega-talented musical duo from Italy. DJs, performers, and visual artists, Hard Ton not only contributed the backing vocals, but also did an amazing remix for the track. A dub mix is also included here, with snippets and bursts of vocals laid over rhythmic beats.

The second remix comes from house music master Tedd Patterson. Tedd produces and remixes much like his DJ'ing, with driving percussive beats and deep techno textures. His history in the dance music world is legendary, from an extensive catalog of production work to his DJ sets, truly making him a 'DJ’s DJ'. His remix here is timeless and will be a peak hour track on the dance floor.

Rounding out the EP is a B-side track titled “Deep Train of Thought”. It’s an Orb-like journey through electronic soundscapes and vocoded vocals.

Box Office Poison - One Good Thing (feat Adam Joseph) (Random Records)

American born / Berlin based musician, producer and performer Snax is proud to release the first full EP under his house production moniker Box Office Poison.

Box Office Poison has a mission. That is, to deliver all the emotions conjured up by four-to-the-floor: the drama, the joy, the glamour, the light, the darkness, the cuntiness, the sweat. Snax has already released under this name via remixes for The Rimshooters and Bedroom Productions. For this release, the ninth on Snax’s Random Records label, he’s teamed up with soul singer Adam Joseph to create a fresh and breezy stomper "One Good Thing", perfect for summer dance floors and beyond.

While the driving beat, jangly piano and delicate synths move your body, the lyrics speak to something we all can relate to: the elusiveness of finding that one true love.

Two remixes round out the package. One is from Australian sensation Jad & The Ladyboy. Already known for slamming tracks on Exploited and Toy Town, Jad’s rework here is a spaced out and bass-y trip; heavy on the psychedelic while never losing the song inside.

Snax has also teamed up with ex-Manhooker frontman Mavin LeMagass in launching their songwriting production duo BonomoLeMagass. Together their remix takes the groove to the basement, ramping up the space between the beats. The result is deeper than deep house, further complimented by Adam’s luscious vocalizing.

Lenny Fontana (Ministry Of Sound / Kult) - "I love the old school vibe."
Severino (Horse Meat Disco) - "Yes … great sound!"
Quarion (Drumpoet Community / Retreat) - "Very sweet house vibes with that undeniable powerhouse funk touch from Snax. The original and the BonomoLeMagass Basement Remix are my favorites."

Sarah Favouritizm - "I like the Jad & The Ladyboy remix … really nice and dreamy."
Booker T. (Kings Of Soul / Liquid Sessions) - "Wicked tune."
Distant People (Foliage / Seamless) - "I'm feeling the vocal on this … a tasty, laid-back, melodic house cut."
Manutek (Mix Collectors) - " I like the BonomoLeMagass remix which reminds me some good underground tracks from the '90s"
Michael Fossati (Spirit of House) - "The classy old skool piano-house inspired BonomoLeMagass remix is the one for me."
Tommy D Funk (Good For You Records / DJ Times) - "Absolutely on fire … a classic in the making!"

DJ MFR & Andi Lone - Changes (Transport Recordings)

San Francisco's DJ MFR has teamed up with Italian vocalist Andi Lone for a multi-lingual house music treat, "Changes". Released by MFR's long-standing Transport Recordings, "Changes" delivers a sparkling arrangement of piano chords and floating synth pads over a groovy four-on-the-floor rhythm. Andi Lone's sensual vocals feature a spoken verse in Italian and a sung chorus in English, adding to the exotic vibe of this moving track. Rome-based producer and regular Transport contributor Devid Morrison provides a spacious deep house remix tailor-made for late club nights. Reverb-drenched percussion and a slinky rhythmic backbone perfectly compliment Andi's echoed vocal phrases. Morrison then reveals a stripped-back dub which showcases the underground drive of his production. Also on hand for a remix is renowned DJ / producer Vincent Kwok who creates a smooth and sophisticated re-interpretation of "Changes". Kwok adds a warm low end and lovely synth melodies to act as compliments to Andi Lone's catchy chorus. This one will bring smiles to faces on the dance floor as it inspires the bodies to move.

Zona - Peace Love & Understanding (70x7 Records)

Peace, Love and Understanding is the debut album from the production duo of Dimitri Craven and Jerry Andrews, collectively known as Zona. This eclectic combo, based in Los Angeles, pushes a 'live' deep house style and has had previous acclaimed releases on Good For You Records, Kapa, and House Tribe Records. Zona focuses on the soulful and inspirational facets of house music, collaborating with a number of talented vocalists and players to realize their finely textured sound. 70x7 Records is the pair's own label which plays host to Peace Love & Understanding and its moving twelve tracks.

Zona's album is an ambitious undertaking, as the pair worked on its production on-and-off for seven years. Each song features a vocalist ideally suited to the individual vibe, including Angela McGary, Valerie Moise, and Wade C.Long, among others. Another of the album's highlights is its integration of live instrumentation with the house music beats … the Zona members have a history of playing in live bands and sought to incorporate this feel in their music. The result is a soulful and often inspirational collection of songs, including the Rhodes chord-led "I Am Beautiful", the driving "Slave to the Rhythm", and the warm, positive energy of the album's title track. Peace Love & Understanding will give the dance floor lots to feel good about.
