Toronto’s Kozmik Hype Recordings reemerges with “Take Me Higher,” a new single in a classic house music style from veteran DJ Mystik Mike. A mainstay on the Toronto scene, Mystik Mike has been spreading the house message since the 90’s as a DJ, club owner, and radio show host. For “Take Me Higher” Mike enlisted newcomer Amanda Costa to sing the track’s title while a floor-filling amalgamation of potent rhythms, solid low end, filtered stabs, and tribal percussion move the cut into the prime time. Top notch remixes come courtesy of Kozmik Hype’s own Darren Marshall (Dirty Deluxe, Crystal Sound) who adds a jazzy shuffle to the booming four-on-the-floor, and Walid Farah, a new member of the Kozmik Hype team with his debut remix, offering a funkier interpretation. Superb sounds aimed for the dance floor here, continuing Kozmik Hype’s stellar run of house music singles.
