RobHex - Treat You Right (Muskox Records)

Muskox Records is proud to present the first solo output of Robin Brunson under his alter ego RobHex. Robin is best known as half of UK music duo Hexstatic, a Ninja Tune audio / visual duo widely recognized for their groundbreaking live performances and tracks like the award-winning “Timber”. Prior to Hexstatic, Robin got his start producing and DJ’ing for Skint Records offshoot Undr 5’s as Rareforce. Focusing on his own sound for “Treat You Right,” RobHex delivers bass music with house appeal while exploring complicated rhythms and the deepest sub frequencies. The track is tinged by electric organ stabs with supernatural synth effects and pitched down vocals that imply something more sinister is at play. Canadian producer MPL (Global Underground, UG Records) turns in a more driving remix with forward marching snares, dancing big room synths, and the vocals extended into a contorting chant. The single guarantees to do as its title suggests, for the DJ and the dance floor audience.

Tensnake - “Great stuff from Robin of Hexstatic.”

Atom Pushers (Dirty Fabric / Cr2) - “The original mix is so sick!”
DJ Schwa (Shades of Gray) - “Both tracks are unique and very cool. I’m liking the broken breaks in the original.”
Mugwump (Kompakt / Throne of Blood) - “Super cool single. Both versions are solid.”
Fabricio Peçanha (Moodmusic / Definition Records) - “Love it!”
Severino (Horse Meat Disco) - “This is pretty funky.”

Joey Silvero (Distant People) - “Really nice bounce to this. I love the breakbeat … a crisp and fresh sound.”
Tony D’Onghia (Radio Koper-Capodistria) - “I’m hooked! Outstanding. Straight into my radio playlists.”
DJ Nova (Rodon FM, Greece) - “The original is really a hot production … a massive bass breaks-in-the-house bomb, reminiscent of classic Limbo Records’ sounds.”
Mark Mac (The Sounds Collective) - “Deep breaks got better with this release … love the sub bass and haunting sounds. Tune!”
