Greg Eversoul - Loan Smoke EP (Release Musiq)

For its latest issue Release Musiq presents a floor-focused new release from scene veteran Greg Eversoul, with a hot shot remix from rising stars Android Cartel. Eversoul got his start in Denver DJ’ing at Hipp-E’s infamous, early parties in the dawn of the nineties. From there his reputation grew with gigs throughout the burgeoning US rave scene evolving into DJ appearances in venues worldwide. A move to San Francisco furthered Greg’s trajectory as he secured residencies at renowned clubs like 1015 Folsom and The End Up, and released tracks through SF’s Character imprint. Since then Greg Eversoul has relocated to Europe, continuing the release tracks and remixes with various labels. With the two new tracks included here, “Loan Smoke" and "D-Regatta,” Greg embraces a dark tech house sound with deep touches and a little bit of that psychedelic west coast house flavor. “Loan Smoke” is an eerie, atmospheric exploration into deep techno, cruising along effortlessly with bubbly synths and intermittent ominous siren sweeps that dive slowly off into the background. “D-Regatta” is dark, brooding tech house with a pounding kick and a grinding, thick bass line. Los Angeles’ Android Cartel return to Release Musiq after their powerhouse remix of Kazell’s “Nosamosa,” continuing their confident take on house-techno sounds as recently revealed through labels like VIVa MUSIC, EQ Recordings, and Fade Records. The Cartel’s remix of “Loan Smoke” subtly uses tribal elements to create a pulsating, mind-altering soundscape. Big builds, potent rhythms, and expressive sound design make this cut an after-hours peak time prerequisite.

Tom Findlay (Groove Armada) - “‘Loan Smoke’ is a killer track. I love the bass on the original mix. I dig the remix, too, in a big room stylee.”
Johnny Fiasco - “Great energy and a bit of funk!”

Orde Meikle (Slam) - “Cool tracks … will spin.”

Jota Wagner (Colors Sound System) - “The Android Cartel Mix for me here… techno feelings! Perfect for late night action.”
DJ Linus (Exun) - “Massive … full support!”
Tyler Stadius - “Great old school sound to ‘D-Regatta’.”

Kazell - Nosamosa (Release Musiq)

The latest offering from Release Musiq, the diverse, concept-driven dance label coming out of the creative oasis of Asheville, North Carolina, is “Nosamosa" from U.K.-native, L.A.-transplant Kazell. Kazell is known for his DJ sets and productions comprised of an electric and refreshing fusion of dub, tribal, and breaks layered over a tech-house foundation. His tracks have made their way to labels like Bedrock, Audio Therapy, and Lost Language and have been featured on compilations from icons like Sander Kleinenberg and Nick Warren. This sound caught the attention of Sasha and John Digweed who had Kazell join them on the eighteen dates of their Spring Club Tour 2008.

Kazell’s presented two versions of “Nosamosa” in this single. The Tech Mix features a throbbing bounce, with punchy rhythms, mysterious spoken vocals, and ominous sounds all tightly woven into an effective peak time track. Kazell’s House Mix tames the rhythm a tad, but makes up for it with a warm and syrupy bass line that adds loads of dance floor weight to the cut. Percolating percussion and rhythmically gated synth pads add to this version’s drive.

Two top drawer remixes complete the “Nosamosa” package. First up is L.A. duo Android Cartel (VIVa MUSIC, Fade Records) with a deep and dark tech-house version that totally transmits that after-hours warehouse vibe. An insistent rhythm anchors building chord work and swirling sound design. The big breakdowns are certain to shake up the nightclub. Next up, Nomad In The Dark (Global Underground, Hope Recordings) twists “Nosamosa” into a dubby assemblage of vocoded spoken vocals, laser shot sound effects, and strident synth shots over a deliciously chunky drum track.

Nick Warren  - “Well done … Top work.”
DJ Schwa (Shades Of Gray / Beef Records) - “The Android Cartel remix is cool.”
Darin Epsilon (Perfecto / Baroque) - “A solid pack all around.”
Osvaldo Panero (DJW Magazine) - “8/10”
Chris Fortier (Fade / Field Trip) - “The Android Cartel and Nomad In The Dark mixes hit the mark!”
QuestionmarQ (Vision Collective) - “Just what the doctor ordered … Nomad In The Dark in fine chugging form!”
Distant People (Foliage / Seamless) - “The Android Cartel Remix has a nice dreamy sound.”
Will SumSuch (Urban Torque / Seven Music) - “I’m really liking both remixes … The House Mix is tasty too.”
Tini Tun (We Are Here Records / Fade Records) - “Great release … Full support!”
