Alien Alien - Monday / The Nights (Discaire)

Hugo Sanchez and Rodion of Alien Alien (Gomma, Eskimo) return from a cosmic voyage out in deepest, blackest space back to Earth with a new release for Discaire, titled The Nights EP. From their interstellar expedition the pair conjures up dark sounds submerged deep in an abandoned nightclub basement once frequented by a distant, technologically advanced civilization.

The title track is an exploration of the space time continuum where bass lines bend one way or another before going into an arpeggiated, nu-disco hyperdrive. The track’s cinematic melodies warp sideways and back in line as granulated synth effects shift from amoeba-like structures to a solid form.

On the other side, “Monday” is a house cut that features night-stalking salsa hand claps, wild aboriginal sounds with an infectious vocal mantra intoned throughout the track - a return to earlier motifs Alien Alien is known for especially with the Sambaca/Black Guru EP from 2011.

The Nights EP 12“ vinyl is slated for release on March 4th, 2013 where Alien Alien will join the Discaire roster among previous alumni Discodromo and C.L.A.W.S. Digital formats will drop worldwide on March 11th. In the tradition of all previous Discaire releases The Nights EP comes in a special limited edition ‘concept’ packaging with a boutique run of 250 pressings on vinyl with mastering completed by Dietrich Schoenemann. Early support on the release has already come from the likes of Neville Watson, Tim Sweeney, and Ivan Smagghe.

A longtime collaborator of Alien Alien, Manuel Savoia, will also be producing the music video to accompany the release. For instant gratification of what to expect, watch their ”Sambaca” video - an elaborate choreograph of high steppin’, heel crushing, butch femmes trying to out-fierce each other on an abandoned junkyard that viewers from all over the world are losing their hair extensions over.
