As essential to your summer as a new pair of shades, Toronto’s SolaZul return with a sultry-smooth mix of sweet flamenco and latin-infused house to spice it up on their third full-length album Calor, released through Canadian powerhouse music label nice+smooth ultramedia. The release features many outstanding cuts, with vocals from heavyweights in the Toronto music scene including Irene Torres, Anthony King and Matt Dematteo.
SolaZul is truly an act who stand out on the global stage with their previous two albums having made an immense impact on the genre of latin / dance crossover. Their output has all been licensed in Japan and released throughout Asia, and their songs can be heard on radio and in cool cafes, ritzy hotel lounges, and beachfronts the world over.
This single features two of the album’s cuts, “Calor” and “Milagro,” given floor-filling, deep remix treatments from an all-Canadian cast. Marcus Visionary, who previously remixed SolaZul’s “Paixão” into a big tune on the broken beat scene, provides a rework for both songs. His versions effectively dive into the more rhythmic and melodic edges of deep house for some fiery DJ fuel. Montreal producer Knafo (Pronto Music) remixes “Milagro” with a mid-tempo late night warehouse feel that should send some hips wobbling. Tech-house auteur Fab Palermo (Box Of Kittens) then unveils a version of “Calor” that’s sonically fresh and dramatic offering snippets of the vocal and instrumentation for an appealing after hours effect.
