Hyena Stomp - Running (Get Up Recordings)

The fourth release from New York label Get Up Recordings comes from the Italian-born/London-based duo Hyena Stomp. Hyena Stomp consists of Severino from the Horse Meat Disco DJ collective and Nico De Ceglia, Pete Tong’s right-hand-man for his legendary show on BBC Radio 1. Sharing a wide range of inspirations from Kraftwerk to Apparat via Prince, from the Detroit sound to the cosmic and Afro ones, Hyena Stomp is a prime example of the diverse musical appetite shared by the two Italians. Running.” Solid, insistent house rhythms provide the backbone for a flurry of staccato synth pads, distant vocal drops, rumbling low end, and a couple of dramatic floor- approved breakdowns. Remix duties have been assigned to another Italian duo, Emanuele Esposito & Leonardo GloVibes, who deliver a more percussive tech- house take filled with sweeps, booming bass, and pure after-hours power within its huge sound.
