Tony H - Passion / Source of Love (Uniting Souls Music)

Seattle's newly appointed Party Citizen is Tony H (Space Yacht, Late Night Munchies), and he's ready to launch forth with a new double A-side single on Uniting Souls Music. The label's on a tear with twelve consecutive Beatport top 10 chartbusters, with this release deservedly rounding out the even dozen. "Passion" drives with potent house music electricity, complete with chunky drums, a low rolling bassline, and a rhythmically spoken vocal. This one thumps, and it's sure to be a late-night staple. Flip the virtual wax for "Source of Love," which takes things down into moodier realms while still delivering tight, speaker-rattling, deep house vibes. Give in to these beats.

Brandon Bass (Hub City Music Group) – “Absolutely the best thing to grace my inbox in a long time. Great deep and dark drummy tracks. Reminds me of SF gigs back in the day. Love it!”
Tokita (Large Music) – “Both tracks are FIRE! Nice work Tony.”
Wilbour Craddock (Groovewest) – “This double A side is a true double A side, with two fantastic tracks of pure house for the late night crowd.”
Mason Rothert (Below Zero Radio Show) – “Passion is the jam!”
DJ P-REZ (The Session Worldwide) – “Both of these tracks are dope!”
Snooba (Radio Panik) – “100% dynamite. Infectious!”

Col Lawton - Little Closer / Music Showed Me Love (The Remixes) [Uniting Souls Music]

Hot on the heels of Col Lawton's original single for "Little Closer" and "Music Showed Me Love," renowned Pacific Northwest house collective Uniting Souls has issued a top notch remixed follow-up. Col is a founder of Deep Fix Recordings and for releases with the likes of King Street Sounds, Atjazz Record Company, and Salted Music. Col's warm and deep house music sonics have moved dancefloors for a while, and his productions lend themselves nicely to fantastic remixes like the ones found on this single.

Liz Somes — who recently won the Future Talent Award from the Pete Tong DJ Academy — is first on the remix podium, grabbing "Little Closer" and adding a dose a smooth spaciousness. A techy bass line, echoed key pads, panned percussion, and added vocal phrases from Katty Heath give this remix bonus shine. Next up, Sen-Sei & Stranger Danger drop their Left Coast Deep Groover mix of "Music Showed Me Love." Sen-Sei's delicious keyboard riffs accompany a driving 4-on-the-floor beat and layers constructed from the original vocals and track elements. Superb stuff. Then Uniting Souls mainstay Jon Lee tackles "Music Showed Me Love" with a stripped-down version that gets extra deep and moody. The vocal is delivered in snippets as a techno rhythm, strangely effected synth lines, and ambient pads build the formidable vibe to a powerful breakdown. Proper nightclub jams throughout!

Mr. V (Sole Channel Music) – “Solid house music. Thanks guys!”
Wesley Holmes (Flammable) – “Damn! Great follow up to the original. Very versatile remix package! each mix can be played in different times throughout the night. Will play.”
Takamasa Owaki (Cactus Experience) – “Great work! Full support.”
Jason Merle (4E&A Records) – “Great release. All 3 tracks are good and offer enough variety to make it a necessity in the bag.”
Michael Fossati (Spirit of House webzine) – “A classy late night groover.”
Black Mighty Wax (Gru Radio) – “That kind of House I like to play.”

Col Lawton - Little Closer / Music Showed Me Love (Uniting Souls Music)

The iconic Seattle-based house music imprint Uniting Souls has snagged two brilliant tracks from veteran UK DJ/producer Col Lawton for a club-primed double A-side single. Col is known to many as a founder of Deep Fix Recordings and for releases with the likes of King Street Sounds, Atjazz Record Company, and Salted Music. This release is a perfect blend of the Pacific Northwest and the UK's Northern Dance Scene.

"Little Closer" opens the single with a brisk house rhythm, leading into a steady sub-bass line, warm chords, and an emotive male vocal hook. Synth arpeggiations enter the sound space to take things even further into late night territory. Flip the digital wax for "Music Showed Me Love," a chunkier take on Col's sound with processed, tribal percussion accenting the beats. Squelchy pads, stereo-panned effects, and a cosmic vocal line spread an unmistakable underground warehouse vibe. Sweet electric piano riffs and spoken sections accent the dancefloor focus. Both cuts are more than ready for repeated spins!

Cantos - Underground People EP (Uniting Souls Music)

Seattle's house music institution Uniting Souls continues pushing the strong vibes in 2022, marking the collective's impressive 25th year. The top-notch releases see no sign of stopping as Cantos' Underground People EP is the latest from the seasoned crew to drop on global dancefloors. Cantos is known for his memorable HMNI warehouse parties and the community that it created, as well as bumpin' releases for Selekta, LTHM, CPR Digital, and his own HMNI imprint. The Underground People EP features four new cuts primed and ready for funked-up nightclub action.

The EP opens with the crisp percussion and vibrant chords of "I-5 South." The rhythm is steady and pulsing, feeling like a night drive down a secluded highway. The evocative mid-section breakdown adds an air of mystery to the affair. "My Dog Barks" starts with a flurry of electronic hand percussion, giving this one a pronounced tribal flair. Strange sounds and effect-laden swishes provide an almost ominous flavor over the house beats. A treat for the after-hours, "Love Like Mine" is dark and deep, complete with growling bass hits, persistent tom-drums, and echoed vocal phrases. "Underground People" closes the EP with a potent four-on-the-floor builder as spoken vocal samples, synth hits, and blasts of high-frequency melody combine to give the floor its peak-time moment.

DJ Samuel Lawrence (R Side Recordings) – “Solid! Nice to hear tracks that are intricate and not predictable.”
