Toronto based producers Peter and Steve Primiani, formerly of 83 West Records and Camouflage Recordings, have been busy in the studio laying down the foundation for their new label Hot Lipps Records. In just a short period they have collaborated on an entire arsenal of deep, techy productions under their moniker Hot Lipps Inc. and are ready to deliver their new catalogue starting with this exciting debut release.
“Talkn’ Bout” is the first salvo from Hot Lipps Inc., a straight-up percussive house bit with a solid bass line and moving filtered stabs. There are some floor-inspiring vocal snippets placed rhythmically throughout, and a jazzy electric guitar riff surprises with its appearance in the middle breakdown. “Talkn’ Bout” also gets a remix from renowned Spanish producer Nacho Marco, no stranger to house music with prior releases on Plastic City, Pacha Recordings, Om Records, King Street, and many others. His remix compliments the first release perfectly with its lush pads, strings, and pulsing rhythm. Nacho’s version builds deliriously as a 303 acid line and female vocal hits help lift the dance floor off into the atmosphere.
The other two originals from Hot Lipps Inc. show the diversity of the project. “I Want It” melds a disco drum track and a bit of slinky synth action with an enticing, catchy French vocal and a dreamy vocoder part. The final cut, “Time Travel,” heads into deeper territory with an ’80s inspired electro bass, hypnotically swirling pads, and some spacey sections to draw the listener further into its vibe. All in all, these cuts introduce Hot Lipps Inc. with style … look for more releases on the horizon.
