Michael Lovatt - Gleamer EP (Melonsound)

Melonsound are pleased to bring the latest release from Michael Lovatt, an Irish house and techno producer living in Berlin. Inspired first in the ’80s by electro pop and E.B.M., then in the ’90s by the burgeoning house and techno scene, Michael has been an active DJ and producer for fifteen years, with releases on Science Label, Ricochet Records, Subtec Records, Dublin Xpress, EchoDeluxe, and more. The Gleamer EP includes two original tracks “Gleam” and “Solitaire“ (which features Irish vocalist Robyn Bromfield), as well as two great remixes from fellow Irishmen Johnny Trotter (Moxi, Yaiza) and the up-and-coming Andrew Hosey (Miami Techno Crome, 1642 Records). The EP delivers a potent blend of deep and banging tech grooves with lots of feeling and atmosphere. ”Gleam“ is a pure dance floor groover, with its deep funk stabs and 909 rides. The b-side, “Solitaire,” offers a deeper vibe with its rolling bass line and haunting vocals from Robyn Bromfield. This isn’t the first time Michael has worked with Robyn … the pair collaborated on his last EP Born Deep which was released on Melonsound last year. The remixes round out the package, with Johnny Trotter’s remix of ”Gleam“ driving with a deep, techy pulse and Andrew Hosey’s take on ”Solitaire” showing a superb use of sub-bass, rhythm, and atmosphere.
