Roy Davis Jr. - Dance Everybody (Mile End Records)

Roy Davis Jr.’s funky electronic music has quenched thirsty fans like communal wine. The tracks produced by this legendary DJ/producer of Chicago’s dance music scene have received massive radio and club play around the globe. Roy Davis Jr. describes his music as “Soul Electrica" (also the name of his 1999 album for Peacefrog), a hybrid of soul and electronic music. Others describe it as classic R & B infused with deep, soulful, Chicago-style House. While spinning his own brand of floor-stomping soul for his multitude of fans, Roy Davis jr. has emerged as one of the most requested DJ’s in the world. Between flights, Roy has managed to create a musical catalog of many timeless club anthems; among them "The Believers - Who Dares to Believe in me?" and the genre-defining “Gabrielle”.

After the fantastic previous Mile End Records singles “Goodlife” and “Why Do I Luv Muzik,” Roy Davis Jr. continues his history with the Montreal label on “Dance Everybody.” It’s a powerful, sing-along (and dance-along) house cut featuring the sparkling, melodic vocals of Manny who was last heard on “Bad Like Me” and “Electronic Love” from Roy’s 2009 God Life Music album. In between Manny’s phrases are the smooth hip-house raps of J. Noize and Dilla, further bridging the space between bonafide house music jam and soulful R&B joint. It’s a classic sounding track sure to gain dance floor attention from the moment it’s dropped. The Dub showcases Roy’s pulsating, filtered keys and steadfast rhythm with the catchiest phrases from Manny’s vocal performance floating in and out of the mix.
