Various Artists - Dimentique Showcase Part 1 (Dimentique)

The prolific Dimentique label again displays its diverse A&R policy with a compilation EP featuring artists from different points on the globe and sounds touching on various aspects of underground electronic music. The Dimentique Showcase Part 1 promises to be the first in a series highlighting new and unsung discoveries in the global dance music network, providing these impressive artists with an outlet for exposure as well as an introduction into the growing Dimentique family.

Chicago producer Oleg Bondar sets things into motion under his Arcade Room moniker, unveiling the jaunty yet relaxed house music of "Anse Lazio". With its flowing atmospherics, spacey trumpet melody, and exotic percussion this one transmits a positive, poolside vibe. Southern Italy is next represented by Harvaro and his driving "Fireworks". Led by an insistent and funky drum machine pattern, the track is layered with melodic pads, synth arpeggiations, and a rumbling, low bass line combining for quite the breezy affair. French law student-turned-producer L'Orbeat delivers a lush, downtempo, soulful feel with his remarkable contribution, "Love In Summer". Its light, melancholic groove is punctuated with vocal hits, ethereal chords, and a crisp snare moving things along. Stephen Flores, hailing from Northern California, catches onto the tropical trend with appropriately titled "Hot Nights" … it pulses and builds into a solid, late night summertime anthem. Finally, from the American deep south comes SeizeTheBeat, who winds things down with "Portland Rain", a cut harking back to the atmospheric trip hop of the mid-'90s but not without a few contemporary production tricks up the sleeve.

Bordland - Home EP (Dimentique)

The Bristol-based artist Bordland epitomizes his Dimentique label as a producer filled with surprises and a ear to the eclectic. Unafraid at playing with genres, both Bordland and Dimentique have revealed a distinctive catalog held together within the rein of thoughtful deep house. The new Home EP offers three expressive tracks from Bordland, each presenting a lush, dreamily produced sound. "Home" is filled with spacey atmospheric synths and pulsing pads over the direct rhythms, creating a lovely, emotional vibe. "Switch It" also features Bordland's filtered, warm chords, this time accompanied by a more traditional house rhythm track and a hint of a 'lounge' style. "Finale", which was previewed early last year but is only now fully realized, applies the aesthetics of the EP to a gentle, slo-mo 'dubstep' feel. There's a skillful use of tension, as the sound rises to subtle blasts of synths and rhythm punches. Bordland's Home EP succeeds in transmitting an exquisite message to the dance floor.

Machines For Dreams - Premonition (Dimentique)

Bristol's Dimentique imprint is known for its eclectic A&R policy, reaching across genres to discover new producers and talent that tangentially fit the label's philosophy. This is evidenced by the latest signing, the one man indie project Machines For Dreams. Helmed by Australian-based Lachlan Morris, Machines For Dreams blends the guitars and rawness of lo-fi indie rock with the -- yes -- machines of electronic music. This debut single, "Premonition", is a somewhat plaintive composition utilizing 808 drums to underpin Morris's guitar and vocal contributions alongside electronic embellishments. Dimentique has also enlisted Austrian producer Espada (Colourful Recordings / Escapism Musique) to create a magical transformation of "Premonition", emphasizing the 'Dreams' in the original band's name with a floaty deep house remix that has no shortage of gorgeous moments. Gentle piano melodies and wisps of vocal tip-toe over a solid rhythm and bass track, combining into a late night excursion for ethereal dance floors.

Scheibosan (Shanti Roots / Kraak Records) - "The Espada remix is nice and dreamy."
DJ SaF (Expanded / DC10) - "That Espada remix is really DEEP!"

DJ Di Costa (MoodyLushious Influences) - "The original version is one real fine piece of trip-hop flavored electronica. At the same time, Espada's rework is really good with its more deep feeling."
Corbin Dooley (Electric Feel Radio Show) - "The rework has a nice, melodic dance vibe, but I'm enjoying the original the best."
Jero Nougues (Deep Essence Radio Show) - "The Espada Rework sounds nice … driving synths and pumping bass through a catchy groove."

OBu - Time Machine EP (Dimentique)

French producer OBu makes his huge Dimentique label debut with the stunning Time Machine EP which includes two original tracks and two remixes, combining to provide a sweet package for imaginative deep house fans. OBu really taps into his own stylistic sense on "Time Machine" and "Esprit d'Eclat" which break out in uplifting, colorful, and melodic organ and piano sounds that carry over into a very majestic feel -- perfect for the summer circuit. Turkish producer Planet King provides his touch to "Time Machine", introducing tech elements like pitch maneuvering toms. He also draws on his classical guitar background to create some truly mesmerizing finger play for additional atmosphere. Belgian artist Groove Riddim's take on the title track is quite different, giving it a complete makeover with a classic early '90s vintage deep house sound and extended vocal samples, very much in line with his previous work on the Plastik People Digital label.
