Jon Gl3z - Timeless (Harmonious Discord)

Jon Gl3z has returned to Harmonious Discord, following his Discordian Dreaming submission with a strong, deep minded release featuring remixes from Ivan Dbri and Josiah Fontenot. Timeless is a color wheel of shades — from deep house to minimal to breaks. A diverse collection representing the numerous hues of the season.

"Soul Healing" starts things off with staple house percussions layered in a blanket of lush pad thickness. The ride slips into neutral during a dizzying breakdown where pads and keys collide in a symphony of melody and orca songs. On remix duties for this lovely dive is Mexico’s don of the deep, Ivan Dbri. Following a boundary-defying album for HD, Ivan returns to lay in support for his friend and frequent decks-mate. Ivan applies his signature lush landscape, interplayed with precise percussive moments. His layers of atmosphere only cease during a collision of elements that repeat and then lift off. "Timeless" swerves a different direction with a glowing minimal construction that elevates into some nice ambient soundscapes. Driven by a swirling arpeggio, the selection adds complimenting keys and percussive layers. The result is a thick tapestry of sounds all dancing in perfect synchronization. Josiah Fontenot ups the tempo and applies his signature techno/electro edge. Reminiscent of early Casey Hogan recordings, Josiah skates the boundaries of techno and house, utilizing the growing melodics of the original but with an edge that makes his mix a heavy force on the dance floor. "Valeria" ties up the EP with a fun and bouncy breaks construction that could permeate house music sets, largely due to its deep and jazzy accents. Leveraging tried and true elements like mellotron 'oooohhs' and classic Rhodes keys, "Valeria" brings an element of nostalgia to this well-rounded release.

Anders Lyngen (Utzekatze) – “Wow! A floor filler and so warm and nice at the same time. The whole EP is really, really, nice. Has a good warmth to it and pops!”
Taigo Onez (Bang Le’ Dex) – “This is lovely! Timeless is a gorgeous tune. Full support.”
Adam Warped (Whiskey Pickle) – “Solid stuff here. Digging ‘Valeria’, and the remixes are tight too.”

Hober Mallow (Mighty Reel, Sydney) – “Great EP all around. The Ivan Dbri remix of Soul Healing really knocks it out of the park.”

KiloWatts - Renascence (Harmonious Discord Recordings)

Spring hails the return of abstract audio adventurer and Harmonious Discord mainstay KiloWatts. Known for his melodic compositions and logic-defying sound manipulations KiloWatts has left his signature on record labels like Om, Mothership, and Thoughtless. He’s also a huge contributor to the early HD catalog. Earlier this year, KiloWatts unleashed his 11th solo artist album Synthetic Vibrations. In common step, the album was a perfect mixture of live piano and a menagerie of synthetic devices. HD fell in love with the b-side track “Renascence” and are excited to offer it with two excellent remixes by Houston’s Josiah Fontenot.

Renascence” is a rolling, slow burn with airy tines that dance into steady percussion. Funk patterns executed with new guard synths add a natural swing to the build. Attentive patience lures the listener into full musical moments. Uplifting pianos and staggered leads swirl into an audio mesh that drifts to conclusion. Josiah Fontenot takes the tempo faster with a proper 4-on-the-floor techno reinvention. Josiah uses the elements to create powerful spaces in the original mix and delivers a main floor tool with depth. Josiah’s Elektric Mix dives deeper with electro breaks and washed out accents. Heavy bottom end prevails in this sturdy mover. To close the project out, James has offered “Sunshine,” a pensive ambient piece with delayed droplets and mounting symphonics.

Robot84 (Paper Recordings) – “The original has a great vibe, I love it. Would sound great in the sunshine.”
Sean Johnston (Hardway Bros) – “Great for a beach party, if we get any.”
Joe Silva (Purespace) – “Original and remixes are all superbly done.”
Andreas Kinzl (Aromabar) – “Full love for the original mix.”
Rune Lindbæk (Drum Island Records) – “Sunrise is well Balearic.”
Jean Jérome (Kut ‘N’ Paste) – “Beautiful!”
DJ Doubles (Freestyle Fusion show) – “Deep thrills in a very diverse package. This is top notch.”
Andrew Duke (Andrew Duke In The Mix) – “Josiah’s remixes are great.”
Taigo Onez (Bang Le’ Dex) – “This is such a gorgeous release. Full support!”
Jon Fugler (XLNT radio show / Fluke) – “Lovely, accomplished selection here. I am going with the original just because I love the fact it put a smile on my face, jazzy and wonky...what a great combination coming in a close second is the Elektrik Remix.”

Josiah Fontenot - Unseen Forces (Harmonious Discord)

Harmonious Discord staple Josiah Fontenot (AKA El Natured, JB Fontenot) has a knack for creating wide reaching projects that display a precision for the foundational aspects of dance music with a propensity for boundary pushing. Recently Josiah has been busy with projects on imprints like Denied Music and Colour and Pitch. His productions have the city of Houston, TX, clamoring to find out more about this talented and mysterious artist. On remix duties are Signal Deluxe, who bring a seasoned tenure to the project, and multi-faceted Dallas, TX, artist Wanza Dover (Blixaboy, Black Dots, and Jack Dover). Wanz features his rough and rumble alias Jack Dover, giving listeners a comprehensive variety.

Unseen Forces” starts with dulcet chimes and disorienting effects. Growing steadily, synthesizer elements begin to collide with dusty drum machine patterns. The track progresses into abject calamity, with distorted acid lines and circuit bent squeals. Signal Deluxe muddies the waters keeping subtlety at the forefront. Their remix widens the sonic landscape and plays tricks in the ears of the listener, instilling a bit of confused delight amid a playful mixture of elements.

New Paranoia” rattles nerves with expertly executed musical framing. Wrought with tension and growing in complexity this tune introduces a fever to the dance floor that can only be followed with more well-tempered weirdness.

Picking up the pace, “Distant Ally” sits squarely between a techno banger and an electro spectacle. Synthesizer placement and construction are remnant of early electro recordings, but the drum progression is all techno. As with the rest of the project a hint of acid permeates, giving the desired fluidity that only a TB-303 can provide. For the remix, Jack Dover brings a Detroit discipline with big drums, looped-crescendos, and playful percussion.

This fall the Harmonious Discord camp is falling for the weirdness with upcoming features that continue to challenge ears and excite the senses.

Spettro (Get Physical Music) – “I get goose bumps listening to Unseen Forces. The chord progressions and groove are amazing!”
Nick Warren (The Soundgarden) – “Unseen Forces is dope!”
Salah Sadeq (The Crate Radioshow) – “I like the release, and nice work by Signal Deluxe.”
Steve ‘Griffo’ Griffiths (Freak Da Funk radio show) – “Brutal stuff! ‘New Paranoia’ is my fave so far … dirty acid workout! ‘Distant Ally’ brings to mind Dave Clarke’s Reese inspired Red series.”
Snooba (Radio Panik) – “Yeah Acid!”
Henderick AKA Thelonious Funk (Thelonious Funk Sessions) – “Liking the original productions and the Jack Dover mix.”
James Kidd (Thoughtless Music) – “Gorgeous synth tone on Unseen Forces. Both mixes are good.”

Various Artists - Discordian Dreaming 8 (Harmonious Discord)

The Harmonious Discord label ceremonially introduces each year with a new installment of its Discordian Dreaming series, previewing what the label has in store over the coming months. This eighth edition features an abstract collage of sounds fitting for an evening of mindful expansion and dance floor excursions. Included are label mainstays Dorian, Onium, Tobor Rellik, and Josiah Fontenot plus appearances by new artists Triptique and Joshua Davidson alongside the return of legacy legend Litex. This set will offer a shine of interest to every tech-house collector.

Onium begins the release with dub laden saxophone serenade. Crisp percussion and tense atmospheres collide with dense melodies. Dorian resets with an afro-cuban-inspired percussive techno journey. A beautiful mixture of celebration and energy, “Run Run Run” is a full narrative told in music. Joshua Davidson makes his debut on the label with a pensive, deep tech-house performance. Warm accents roll through this cut and Josh shows that his talent for creating complex moods is polished. Josiah Fontenot follows with a non-typical linear techno composition. With a strong focus on character and warmth this tracky bicep beat continues to deliver. Dallas native Tobor Rellik moves us onto the dance floor with a plucky tech-house tune with automation into filthy territories. Triptique then provides a nightclub-favored alternative with hypnotic sweeps and Moroder-esque bass lines. HD001 artist Litex returns with a heavy and driving track that flows into spacey progressive territory but stays crisp with technique.

Atish (Desert Hearts) – “Some really nice sounds in this package.”
lar3n (Noir Sessions) – “Solid EP with great tracks. It’s difficult to chow the best one, however Hue is the one that stands out for me.”
