Steeve Mask feat. Adama - Loosen Up (Fresh Cream Records)

Italy’s Fresh Cream Records continues its ambitious pace with the sixth release from the label, marking the return of Steeve Mask and regular collaborator Adama. Steeve is a veteran DJ on the Italian scene, one half of The Bulletz with Thomas De Lorenzo, and co-owner of Fresh Cream. He’s starting to really make a name for himself with his refreshing deep house style, incorporating elements of nu-disco and funk into a floor-pleasing sound. Parisian vocalist Adama provided vocals on Steeve Mask’s single that launched Fresh Cream, the well received “Sweet Romance,” and now they’ve combined forces again for the brand new “Loosen Up.”

“Loosen Up” instantly creates a feel-good floor vibe with its disco rhythm, captivating bass line, housey piano chords, and Adama’s silky vocal delivery. This is the perfect track to knock the party into next gear and get the dancers flooding the boogie zone. Prime mover! Fresh Cream regulars Marco Rea & RU.DiJ are on hand for the first remix, a delicious ‘dub’ that pulls things deeper and in a more electronic realm, using repeated phrases from Adama’s vocal track to a hypnotizing effect. This one’s solidly placed for an after-hours affair. The second remix in the package comes from Steeve’s partner in The Bulletz and Fresh Cream, Thomas De Lorenzo. With lush synth pads, clappy 808 percussion, effected vocals, and a pulsating bass line this treatment borders on Balearic deep house, making it a top choice for summer beach-side soirees. Three beautiful tracks from Fresh Cream Records here, ready for residence in your digital DJ crate.

Vincent Kwok - “Really feeling the original and Thomas DeLorenzo mixes.”
Joey Silvero (Distant People) - “Deep, heavy remix. Really nice sound. The vocal is haunting.”

Christos Kedras (Kapa Music) - “Nice package. The Thomas de Lorenzo remix is my pick. I like the dark edge.”

Rudy Kizer (Hit The Decks Radio Show) - “Holy balls! The original is brilliant!”
Stefan Popovic (DiscoTone Radio Show) - “The original mix has a soulful and chilled groove that just anybody can love. The bass line in Lorenzo’s rework can seriously shake the floor and it’s one of those tunes which will shine on strong system.”

Thomas De Lorenzo - In My Heart (Fresh Cream Records)

After the success of Steeve Mask’s “Sweet Romance,” Fresh Cream Records immediately issues its second top notch single, this time from label don Thomas De Lorenzo. After releasing memorable deep, soulful house tunes on labels such as Defected and Purple Music in the last couple years, as well as his well-received “Remember My Name” for Gooseneck Records, Thomas dives into 2012 with a terrific new sound. With “In My Heart" Thomas merges his soulful roots with some Berlin-style tech-house rhythms, all shaken about with a groovy nu-disco vibe. There’s a vocal sample that will stick in the listener’s mind as the bouncing bass line keeps things moving on the dance floor. It’s a surefire hit to spice up a DJ’s sets.

The song is complemented with a couple of excellent remixes from producers who may be familiar to those who spun Fresh Cream’s first release. Italian duo Marco Rea & Rudy return with a techy treatment that includes vintage drum sounds and ravey synths. This remix will surely please the late night clubbers. Next up, Steeve Mask (who is also a member of The Bulletz along with Thomas) digs into the vocal sample with his signature ‘disco heaven’ style. A 70’s bass feel and live sounding drums only serve to seal the deal. Two releases in and Fresh Cream Records is already shaping up to be a label to watch.

Steeve Mask feat. Adama - Sweet Romance (Fresh Cream Records)

Presenting Fresh Cream Records, a new European house music label created by the DJ/producer quartet of Marco Rea, Rudy Vicari, Steeve Mask, and Thomas De Lorenzo. The label is readying an ambitious 2012 schedule of deep house, nu-disco, and tech-influenced releases, led by this debut single from DJ veteran Steeve Mask collaborating with the impressive Parisian singer Adama. “Sweet Romance" is a fine, mid-tempo dancefloor groover equally comfortable on club speakers or radio broadcasts. Its eighties-style bass riff, superb vocal hook, and nu-disco synth bounce is certain to grab the attention of even the most jaded dance music fans.

The single also naturally features more underground interpretations, led by a driving remix dub from The Bulletz. Comprised of Thomas de Lorenzo and Steeve Mask, The Bulletz have honed their remix chops with recent reworks for J-Jay, Atjazz, and New Mondo’s big track “I Want Cha” (with Lisa Shaw). Their mix of “Sweet Romance” bears down on the deepness, with a slinky late night rhythm, low frequency stabs, M1 bass, and a delicious mid-point breakdown. On his own, Thomas De Lorenzo, known for his acclaimed recent release on Gooseneck and “No Place Like Home” for Defected, is up next with an evocative ‘ReSoul' of “Sweet Romance.” Highlighting Adama's smooth vocal track, De Lorenzo fashions it around calm piano chords, pulsating mid-tempo beats, and a steady, bold bass line to push the speaker cones. Completing the trio of mixes are Italian DJs Marco Rea & Rudy with a tech-house oriented dub that is tailor-made for a dark, after-hours affair. An ominously throbbing low end corrals the energetic stabs, vocal cut-ups, and percolating percussion into an effective deep and tech-flavored addition to the DJ’s late night arsenal. All of this makes for quite an impressive debut release for the promising Fresh Cream Records. Stay tuned for more.
