Glass Slipper - Universal Love Vibe (Whiskey Pickle)

Whiskey Pickle Records is proud to welcome Austin-based vocal house duo Glass Slipper to their ever-impressive roster of artists. Comprised of producer BradElectro and former Real McCoy vocalist Lisa Cork-Twiss, the pair create an infectious, bubbly sound that oozes sophistication and positive vibes.

The lead cut, “Universal Love Vibe”, is a groovy, pulsating house joint that is right at home in the 21st century yet channels the authentic sound of Chicago’s heyday with characteristically pumping bass. Nylon Trax bossman Jaymz Nylon drops in and creates an earth shattering, percussive remix that fulfills the original's cosmic destiny with swirling synths. Meanwhile, Whiskey Pickle artist Zack Highwire takes listeners down a deep, dark wormhole into another dimension with spaced out, time warped effects.

Caught Up” is a welcome addition to the package and showcases the exceptional talents of the duo. Skittering percussion and a choppy bass line swing confidently while Lisa’s soulful voice laments over tumultuous relationships. London’s own Black Magic Disco injects his signature garage-infused sound into his remix with a torrent of chord stabs. Johnny Blackouts then drops the tempo for his swerving DWI Dub, an arresting remake that’ll send the party grooving with the fuzz down at the precinct.

Various Artists - The Remixes Vol. 1 (Whiskey Pickle)

The concept behind The Remixes Vol. 1 is simple: take some tunes that mostly did not have remixes on the official release and enlist some high profile talent to put their special stamp on them -- and that's exactly what's happening here. Bundled with the premiere of Whiskey Pickle's brand new logo redesigned by Austin artist Mez-One (of The Royal Mark Makers and TITS Crew), this pack has the label family brimming with excitement.

Up first, Sixth Avenue Express takes on the mighty "Nu Funk" by Abstrakt Audio. He twists the hypnotic swirl of the original into a slick lounge affair that features a gorgeous, roof-raising breakdown. Making his second appearance on WP, Dallas based producer Redsean utterly destroys "Does She Want You Now" by Zack Highwire in the best possible way, churning out some mean dance floor revenge. Cosmic funksters The New Black sought the expertise of The Dead Rose Music Company to beef up their "Stone Cold Groove" with some shuffling percussion and a Moog bass line that would make Bernie Worrell proud.

On the flip-side, label founder Adam Warped dons his Johnny Blackouts guise and bucks all convention by taking "I'm A Freak" into Nordic-house territory. Jason Blakemore, formerly known as DJ Trance, injects Zack Highwire's "Mind, Hearts, Lies" with a classic analogue kick that just won't quit. Titled the Lurky Dub, it's just that: deep, brooding, and seriously dubbed out, sure to leave listeners stuck in the groove and eager to move. Lastly, Austin, TX, mainstay Keine Moniker puts "Traps" by P-Rez in a blender filled with heavy Rhodes chords and a rolling bass, pouring out smooth deepness on his Jazzme Edit. He's had a busy year with heavily lauded releases on Cream Couture, Bush Records, Dead Funk Music, and StayFly Records. His remix shows why, taking the original to a whole new time and place.

Mark Farina - “This is nice!”
Sleazy McQueen - “A really diverse package … I’m sure I’ll fit a few of these in.”
Robbie Hardkiss - “Stone cold groovy.”
Irregular Disco Workers (Disco Volante) - “The Dead Rose Music Company do the job!”

Alkalino (Estimativa / Audaz Recordings) - “The Sixth Avenue Express remix for Abstrakt Audio is my pick.”
Al Bradley (3am Recordings / Fabric) - “Cracking beats from one of my favorite labels … all tracks here are top notch. Reckon I’ll pour me a quick Famous Grouse over ice to mark the occasion.”

Honey Claws - Money Jaws Remix EP (Whiskey Pickle Records)

Honey Claws is a new international electronic punk-hop duo formed by American house DJ / producer Thomas Sahs and European-based indie rocker and emcee Jon Von Letscher aka Jov. The Money Jaws Remix EP says it all in the title … once the Whiskey Pickle boys caught a whiff of the original Money Jaws album with its hyper-stylized electro-swagger, it was imperative that remixes be created. Selecting two of the finest cuts from the primary release, “Me A Nude" and "Sleepover,” the Pickle posse went to work tapping a cast of talented characters to provide the needed dance floor treatments.

Florida-based outfit Space Coast is the collaborative effort of analogue wizard Sleazy McQueen and multi-instrumentalist Jorge Collazo. Together, they weave a cosmic tapestry befitting of their nom de plume; the duo launch “Me A Nude” into deep space with an infectious swing. Then Sleazy McQueen takes a solo space-walk on his Dub Remix while fellow moon-cruiser Ursula 1000 engages the hyper-drive core with his usual brand of boogie infusions.

The mysterious Redsean from Dallas, Texas blesses the vibes of “Sleepover” on his first official remix under the moniker. His sultry and sublime retouch is pure 5 AM gold, ladies and gents. Austin-based funkster Off Da Clock is next to lay his hands on “Sleepover” and - be forewarned - it is NSFW! His silky Sex In Da Pool version is a shuffling foot stomper with glossy pads and bubbling leads that’ll have you making new friends (with benefits) on the dance floor. Whiskey Pickle stalwart Zack Highwire is back from his voyage around the sun, bringing the funky solar jams with his Space Garage version. The package closes out with a previously unreleased Can’t Stop The Music Edit of “Sleepover” … something to give any extraterrestrial boppers an authentic taste of pure Honey Claws.

Ursula 1000 - “Smokin’ … but I’m biased!”
Tim “Love” Lee (Tummy Touch) - “I love it.”
Alex From Tokyo (Tokyo Black Star) - “Sleazy McQueen’s mix is my jam!”
Spettro (Crosstown Rebels / Team Records) - “‘Sleepover (Can’t Stop The Music Edit)’ is perfect for Sunday afternoon parties by the pool! Love the stabs and dubby vocal work here.”
Severino (Horse Meat Disco / Dalston Superstore) - “Pretty cool vibe.”
Coyote (… Is It Balearic? / International Feel) - “I love Zack Highwire’s Space Garage mix of ‘Sleepover.’”
Ulysses (Neurotic Drum Band) - “I love the vibe of ‘Me a Nude’ … that’s a great vocal. All the mixes of it are great.”
Stereo 77 (Plimsoll Records) - “Ursula 1000 takes the prize. Killer remix!”
Al Bradley (3am Recordings) - “A really strong selection of beats here; the Space Coast, Sleazy McQueen, and Ursula 1000 mixes are all wicked, likewise with the Off Da Clock and the bumpy Zack Highwire versions of ‘Sleepover.’ But the pick here for me is the Redsean version, which is effortlessly gorgeous, managing to be both ultra-smooth but also packing a whopping dance floor punch. I’m down with that! Skills on this release.”
DK Watts (Short Bus Kids / Bounce House) - “Eclectic stuff, and a great group of remixers.”
Leri Ahel (Mutant Disco Radio Show) - “The Sleazy McQueen dub remix is brilliant! Love it.”
Dado Funky Poetz (Radio Monte Carlo) - “Yeah! Disco-punk for fashion’s next victim.”
Michael Stukes (Mystic Vybes Radio Show) - “High powered hipness here!”

The Owl & Finch - Keep It Up EP (Whiskey Pickle Records)

Whiskey Pickle Records heads for the sky with their first international signing: Sydney, Australia’s The Owl & Finch. The Keep It Up EP is the debut artist release from this pair of high-flying, disco aficionados and is anything but ‘for the birds.’ With several cuts on Dave Allison’s Editorial Records, The Owl has topped the disco charts of Traxsource and Stompy with his solo re-edit work. Here he offers his precise engineering skills to the equation, while Finch supplies the live bass and guitar grooves in “Keep It Up,” a summertime, dance floor blazer that’s sure to earn spins from their native homelands to the shores of Ibiza. The b-side, “Found Another,” features somber, melancholic piano stabs and soulful, lamenting vocal hooks with an undeniably Balearic bass line.

Handling the remixes are Whiskey Pickle regulars Johnny Blackouts, Zack Highwire, and RiCHARD.GEAR. Johnny’s Found a MILF version twists the island vibes into an epic, acidic dub odyssey, perfect for that rude awakening at sunrise by the sea-donkey you thought was a mermaid. RiCHARD.GEAR takes the titular tune into Italo territories of synthesizer madness while the Highwire version of “Keep It Up” is a tense, percussive breakbeat affair. The accompanying Highwire remix of “Found Another” finds the tune plunged into deep, moody realms with a brooding bass line that’s gonna rattle cabinets and keep dancing feet on the floors.

Peter Kruder (Kruder & Dorfmeister) - “I like the originals. The Johnny Blackouts mix and Zach Highwire’s remix of ‘Keep It Up’ are cool as well.”
Psychemagik - “Sweet as … supporting.”
Ilya Santana - “‘Keep It Up’ is a solid boogie track. This one’s for me.”
Gavin Hardkiss (Hawke) - “I’m all over this. Great vibe.”
Tensnake - “I like both versions of ‘Keep It Up.’”

Spettro - “The RiCHARD.GEAR remix takes it for me! Solid work here.”

Hippie Torrales - “‘Keep It Up’ has got a great disco feel.”
Christos Kedras (Kapa Music) - “Really nice package. ‘Keep It Up’ is superb with its funky riffs and Zack Highwire does a great job giving it a bit more floor ‘oomph.’ In the bag.”
Al Bradley (3am Recordings) - “A great selection of vibes here. Both Zack Highwire versions are great, but the original ‘Keep It Up’ is the pick for me. Great vibes.”
Jaysoul (S:R Soundsystem) - “Johnny Blackouts’ psychedelic twist take on Found Another is in the pocket!”
Michael Fossati (Spirit of House) - “The original mix of ‘Keep it up’ is the one … funky as well and smooth yet utterly infectious.”
Simon Lister (People Get Real) - “‘Found Another’ is so good … 101% gonna get people moving!”
Richard Hardcastle (All Out War / Solid State) - “Good collection. I like the real guitar and bass combo on the main track but Johnny Blackouts edges it for me on his atmospheric rework. Really nice.”
