Out of Eden - The Future of Sex (Get Up Recordings)

Get Up Recordings brings back Josh Caffe and David Newtron under their new collective, Out of Eden, with “The Future of Sex”. The release also includes a remix from Italian duo Hard Ton.

Josh Caffe is no stranger to Get Up Recordings. In 2013 he produced and released “Playing With The Maid” with Batty Bass head honcho Hannah Holland to much success. He is also no stranger to fellow producer David Newtron. Josh and David have previously teamed up on Get Up Recordings with “All Gone" featuring Fi McCluskey and on Batty Bass with “As I Look” and “Let Love Ruin”. Josh is a prolific DJ in the London scene, with previous nights at two of East London’s most influential sweatboxes, Vogue Fabrics and Dalston Superstore. He currently holds a residency at the brand new night at East Bloc, Night Sheen, co-hosted with Hannah Holland. With regular appearances at festivals such as Glastonbury, Lovebox, Farr Festival, and Summer Rites, he has built a following with his trademark blend of self-assured ghetto-tech, US house, tech-house and deep house. David Newtron (AKA Jeroen David De Pessemier), an acclaimed synthpop musician, has toured the world with his notorious dance band The Subs. He has done remixes for La Roux, Alt J, Chemical Brothers, and Cassius, and has worked with and produced such musicians as Azari & III, Philippe Zdar, Chat Blake, Etienne De Crécy, and Alex Gopher. Once again, the duo has teamed up with London-based singer / songwriter Fi McCluskey, who adds her soulful powerhouse vocals to the mix.

“The Future of Sex” is a Chicago house-inspired track with simple yet effective drums, a catchy bass line, and strategically placed key hits. Josh’s signature vocals are laced with bits of female vocal licks to really frame the repeated lyrics “I see colors in my mind, twisted memories deep inside...” The Stripped Mix is a dub version of the original.

The remix on the package comes courtesy of Italian heavy-hitters Hard Ton who describe themselves as a larger than life disco sound with a surprising love of metal, fused together in 2008 from the musical loins of DJ Wawashi and heavy metal singer Max. Sylvester-styled falsettos conjure up memories of smoky dance floors during the heady days of Hi-NRG, which, combined with a contemporary sound of accelerated beats and screaming acid bass lines, shows a nod to the past can result in a slap across the face for the present. Using analogue and vintage gear -- from the 303, 606, 707, Oberheim DMX, Korg Monopoly, MS20, Prophet 5 -- the music is as organic as synthetic music can be. Their remix stays true to the original yet gets a little deeper and darker with minor key sounds and a little old school with the 808 drum hits.

“The Future of Sex” is a timeless track that will be heard on dance floors well into the future.

Julius Papp - Healing Force (NeoDisco Music)

Coming from a true originator and innovator in the north American house music scene, the unveiling of a new album from Julius Papp is always met with enthusiasm from dance music fans everywhere. From early appearances alongside Mark Farina at the fabled Mushroom Jazz parties, to sought-after singles on the likes of Nervous Records, Kenny Dope’s Dope Wax, King Street, and Yellow Recordings, to the high quality releases on his own NeoDisco Music imprint, Julius Papp has been stirring dance floors for a couple of heady decades. Now his third artist album -- the buoyantly titled Healing Force -- is ready to drop into appreciative sound systems worldwide, opening a new chapter in Julius's vibrant recording career.

Healing Force is meant to touch on the many aspects of Julius Papp's history and musical influences. The album excels at deep house and soulful, vocal house moments as well as in its slices of downtempo, jazz, and disco-influenced flavors. The album even opens with Julius's declaration of sorts -- as the voice in the loungey "All Styles" suggests: "you should absorb all kinds of musical styles." Other album highlights include the dreamy "Kosmosis" (which presents Julius's fantastic take on the familiar "E2-E4" riff), the funky '80s-influenced "Let It Move You", and the inspiring house track "Just Feel It". The smooth, soulful vocal house tracks Julius is known for are also here … the Reprise Mix of the lovely "A Thousand Years", featuring the amazing vocals of Gina Rene, and the Redux of "Primitive Future", with its spoken verse by Tonee Green, give the DJs and dancers alike something to groove on. Various Artists - Dimentique Showcase Part 1 (Dimentique)

The prolific Dimentique label again displays its diverse A&R policy with a compilation EP featuring artists from different points on the globe and sounds touching on various aspects of underground electronic music. The Dimentique Showcase Part 1 promises to be the first in a series highlighting new and unsung discoveries in the global dance music network, providing these impressive artists with an outlet for exposure as well as an introduction into the growing Dimentique family.

Chicago producer Oleg Bondar sets things into motion under his Arcade Room moniker, unveiling the jaunty yet relaxed house music of "Anse Lazio". With its flowing atmospherics, spacey trumpet melody, and exotic percussion this one transmits a positive, poolside vibe. Southern Italy is next represented by Harvaro and his driving "Fireworks". Led by an insistent and funky drum machine pattern, the track is layered with melodic pads, synth arpeggiations, and a rumbling, low bass line combining for quite the breezy affair. French law student-turned-producer L'Orbeat delivers a lush, downtempo, soulful feel with his remarkable contribution, "Love In Summer". Its light, melancholic groove is punctuated with vocal hits, ethereal chords, and a crisp snare moving things along. Stephen Flores, hailing from Northern California, catches onto the tropical trend with appropriately titled "Hot Nights" … it pulses and builds into a solid, late night summertime anthem. Finally, from the American deep south comes SeizeTheBeat, who winds things down with "Portland Rain", a cut harking back to the atmospheric trip hop of the mid-'90s but not without a few contemporary production tricks up the sleeve.

Kris Moon - Late Night Tracks (Innerflight Music)

Innerflight Music keeps the flag flying for northwest techno with this new release from the prolific Kris Moon, a soldier of the Seattle electronic scene now stationed in Missoula, Montana. Kris has had his hand in many of Seattle’s dance music institutions, including helping to found the Decibel Festival, as buyer for the renowned Zion’s Gate record shop, and host of the influential Moon Bass radio show (which he started in 1996 and now continues in Montana). Kris Moon also helped found the globally recognized ‘Laptop Battle’, a competition series where electronic musicians face off, armed with a laptop and (sometimes) a MIDI-controller. Kris’s skill enabled him to win two of the competitions himself.

Kris Moon's debut release on Innerflight is the Late Night Tracks EP, an outstanding three-tracker that exhibits an ear for moody, layered soundscapes and attention to sonic detail. The lead cut, "Club in Chicago", opens things nicely with a slinky, lowdown groove, accented by a processed repeating vocal scat, a jazz-infected bass line, and some sharp synth work. This one would certainly not be out of place in the Windy City's after-hours environs. "Midnight Hour" follows, containing some solid peak-time dynamics; a bass heavy rhythm section anchors the club-ready female vocal hook as the tune twists and turns through its well-constructed breakdown sections. Rounding out the EP is "Last Party", a more straight-forward track -- in a good way -- that's comprised of ringing chords, funky drum beats, a pulsing bass line, and its fair share of 'house party' attitude. Kris Moon's Late Night Tracks EP gives DJs some prime dance floor fuel … vibes galore.

Gene Farris - "Good stuff!"
Inland Knights - "Digging digging digging!"
Onionz - "I'm vibin' to this."
Tyree Cooper - "Cool stuff."
Jason Hodges (Sampled Recordings) - "Dope groove on 'Last Party'."
Pete Williams (Natural Rhythm) - "Funky release. Nice mix of deeper vibes with Chicago-style energy. 'Midnight Hour' is my pick."
Elijah Collins (Mullet Records / Retrospective) - "'Club In Chicago' … nice track."
Justin Harris (Music For Freaks) - "Cool EP."
Hippie Torrales - "Nice deep groove to 'Last Party'."
Tyler Stadius (Deepsite / Dialtone Records) - "Great tracks! All stand out with a welcome original sound."
Al Bradley (3am Recordings) - "Brilliant EP. All three cuts are solid, but the slower vibe of 'Club In Chicago' really stands out."
Jero Nougues (Deep Essence Radio Show) - "Lovely dark club vibes. 'Last Party' and 'Midnight Hour' are both amazing tracks. Great vibe."
Tariq Ziyad (New Urban ERA) - "Deep and loaded with soul … I love it!"
