Herr Arter & Pablo Lamberti - Mitrata EP (SoHo Beats Recordings)

SoHo Beats Recordings presents an expressive six track release from Amsterdam DJ / producer and Putsch resident Herr Arter and his good friend, 'music philosopher' Pablo Lamberti. With the Mitrata EP the duo focuses on minimalistic techno grooves and exploratory DJ tools, creating a sextet of deep and heady rhythmic cuts that are awash in atmosphere and groove. "Raikon" opens the EP in a mysterious fashion, laying the foundation for the entire release with clockwork beats that encounter ghostly soundscapes throughout. Other cuts such as "Schnädelbach" and "Magnanama" expand on this clandestine vibe, investigating drum machine interplay by hypnotically building a dance floor tension. This is techno at its deepest and most sublime, well worth a bit of nightclub research.

Joshua Iz and Atnarko - Free Your Mind (Viva Recordings)

Viva Recordings leaps forward with another appearance from Orlando dance floor warrior Atnarko, this time in cahoots with Chicago's renowned Joshua Iz for the late night bounce of "Free Your Mind". The pairing is an imposing one, as Joshua Iz has over 200 production credits to his name and his own respected Vizual Records imprint, and Atnarko has been in the game just as long, recently active with his Infiltr8:Celebr8 parties and "Lost Again", a collaboration with Noir and Lomez that was one of Pete Tong's essential tunes of the year. Together they've fused "Free Your Mind" which features distinctive touches of each producer's sound. The cut has the energy of a proper tech house floor filler while exhibiting the sultry, lush tones and mood of classic deep house. Swirling synths, a jaunty bass line, and dubbed out vocal snips all interact playfully over an insistent four-on-the-floor groove. This one's loaded and ready for prime time.

Djuma Soundsystem - "Lovely!"

Michael Fossati (Spirit of House) - "An utterly tantalizing slice of tech-soul bliss."
Simon Kirk (Stag Beetle Radio Show) - "The title says it all – this is music to get lost in – wonderfully hypnotic house … and THAT bass line!"

Box Office Poison - One Good Thing (feat Adam Joseph) (Random Records)

American born / Berlin based musician, producer and performer Snax is proud to release the first full EP under his house production moniker Box Office Poison.

Box Office Poison has a mission. That is, to deliver all the emotions conjured up by four-to-the-floor: the drama, the joy, the glamour, the light, the darkness, the cuntiness, the sweat. Snax has already released under this name via remixes for The Rimshooters and Bedroom Productions. For this release, the ninth on Snax’s Random Records label, he’s teamed up with soul singer Adam Joseph to create a fresh and breezy stomper "One Good Thing", perfect for summer dance floors and beyond.

While the driving beat, jangly piano and delicate synths move your body, the lyrics speak to something we all can relate to: the elusiveness of finding that one true love.

Two remixes round out the package. One is from Australian sensation Jad & The Ladyboy. Already known for slamming tracks on Exploited and Toy Town, Jad’s rework here is a spaced out and bass-y trip; heavy on the psychedelic while never losing the song inside.

Snax has also teamed up with ex-Manhooker frontman Mavin LeMagass in launching their songwriting production duo BonomoLeMagass. Together their remix takes the groove to the basement, ramping up the space between the beats. The result is deeper than deep house, further complimented by Adam’s luscious vocalizing.

Lenny Fontana (Ministry Of Sound / Kult) - "I love the old school vibe."
Severino (Horse Meat Disco) - "Yes … great sound!"
Quarion (Drumpoet Community / Retreat) - "Very sweet house vibes with that undeniable powerhouse funk touch from Snax. The original and the BonomoLeMagass Basement Remix are my favorites."
Marques Wyatt (Deep L.A.) - "Flowing joint!"
Vincent Kwok - "Great track! I love the vocal on this."
Sarah Favouritizm - "I like the Jad & The Ladyboy remix … really nice and dreamy."
Booker T. (Kings Of Soul / Liquid Sessions) - "Wicked tune."
Distant People (Foliage / Seamless) - "I'm feeling the vocal on this … a tasty, laid-back, melodic house cut."
Manutek (Mix Collectors) - " I like the BonomoLeMagass remix which reminds me some good underground tracks from the '90s"
Michael Fossati (Spirit of House) - "The classy old skool piano-house inspired BonomoLeMagass remix is the one for me."
Tommy D Funk (Good For You Records / DJ Times) - "Absolutely on fire … a classic in the making!"

40 Thieves - Take Me I'm Yours (feat. Nina Lares) (Roam Recordings)

Roam Recordings' latest installment features long time label friends 40 Thieves – known for previous releases on the likes of Permanent Vacation, Leng, and Rong Records – and their excellent redux of Squeeze’s 1978 classic "Take Me I’m Yours". The combo's take on this proto-new wave gem renders the tune as spacier and yet more dance floor focused, with the sultry voice of Nina Lares supplying the captivating hook. The result is as slinky as can be, with a hypnotic four-on-the-floor providing the anchor for layers of lush pads and keys as Nina sings the spine-shivering melody. There's also an instrumental included in the digital package for those wishing to dig deep into 40 Thieves' arrangement.

The first remix is a hearty chugger from Tronik Youth (Nein Records). The drums are given a bit more bite, riding a pulsing synth line while the vocals are eerily dubbed in and out. Next up Simon Peter (Claremont 56, Silhouette Music) shows his mastery of the live bass guitar which is front and center of his smoothed out balearic take on the tune. Bright chords and hand percussion make this one special for hazed-out moments. San Francisco up-and-comer Praus rounds out the package with a languid psychedelic version that recalls Massive Attack with its moody grittiness and dubby tendencies.

Pete Herbert (Reverso 68 / Disco Deviance) - "Great version and remixes.. I love 40 Thieves!"
Thugfucker (Life and Death / Visionquest) - "I was just thinking about the original recently … nice job bringing it back!"
Sleazy McQueen - "This is immensely exciting."
Tensnake - "That Simon Peter remix is awesome."
Ali Herron (OOFT! / Foto Rec.) - "I'm digging the slo-mo electronic vibes on this single. The original and Simon Peter remix are both sounding dope."
Ilya Santana (Eskimo Recordings) - "The Praus remix for me … nice package!"
Bonar Bradberry (PBR Streetgang / Under The Shade) - "Absolutely great … all the mixes are really strong, too."
Psychemagik (Discotheque Wreckers / History Clock) - "The Praus remix is tight but that Simon Peter mix got me trippin' daydreams."
Flash Atkins (Paper Recordings) - "Nice package with the original taking the honors."
Shiny Objects (Smoke n' Mirrors) - "I'm loving all these joints! The Tronik Youth dub is my favorite."
Jaymz Nylon - "I love the vibe of the Simon Peter remix."
Tim Sweeney (Beats In Space) - "Nice one!"
Bruce Tantum (XLR8R) - "Great and groovy laid-back song, and I'm loving the diverse set of remixes."
