Eternal City - Games (Hadogy Records)

Hadogy Records is a new label spearheaded by renowned Italian DJ Haldo. Haldo has a lengthy production resumé, contributing top tracks and remixes to the likes of Transport Recordings, Conya, Adaptation Music, and his own Proceed Records. Eternal City, a production project consisting of Haldo as well as fellow Italian DJ Gianni Sponti and musician Dom Scuteri, found success with Hadogy’s debut release “Come To Me,” a collaboration with famed Italo-Disco vocalist Orlando Johnson. Now Eternal City returns for the second Hadogy release “Games,” a track inspired by a moving spoken sample from the sixties.

As with the “Come To Me,” this new single is a family affair with all the members of Eternal City and some of their friends providing remixes of “Games.” First up is Gianni Sponti who blends a deep strut with classic, vintage sounds and textures. Shiny melodies and Rhodes piano lines ride along with the crisp beat, helping to create a winner for the dance-floor. Haldo is next, adding cool piano chords and a slightly techy bass line for a somewhat jazzy, uplifting take on “Games.” Haldo returns for the next mix, in cahoots with Dom Scuteri (aka Mod) who expands on an unreleased Haldo mix from this project. This one’s a gorgeous and loungey deep house version with added saxophone riffs and a gentle late night feel. Another Italian DJ/producer, Nasty (Sound Real), follows with a more electronic-flavored mix, with a pulsing, rhythmic drive and dubbed out, layered effects on the vocal samples and the saxophone. Haldo’s third contribution to the package appears in an acid jazz influenced lounge-house mix that features vibrant live instrumentation by Red Skins. It’s a joy to listen to, harking back to past house music sounds. Finally, Rey Pedroso, who began spinning disco records in the late 70’s and is a member of Orchestra Industrial Automatica, delivers a lush house music rework with a solid bass foundation below swirling pads, hypnotic rhythms, and well-placed breakdowns.

More about the members of Eternal City: Dom created Lemon Records in the 80’s and had chart success with his Black Connection and Time Passing projects, Gianni is an accomplished DJ and supervisor for various compilations including the La Maison series, and Haldo has been prolifically working with some of house music’s best, including remixes for legendary names like Tony Humphries and Victor Simonelli. This is their second single, released on the newly created Hadogy Records.
