Brooklyn is Burning - Percolatin' (Get Up Recordings)

Get Up Recordings continues a steady string of releases with “Percolatin’” from the New York City based collective Brooklyn is Burning (Nita Aviance and Adam Joseph). Nita Aviance is one of the most sought after DJs in the NYC underground club scene and has been creating a buzz with his production work, especially his remixes for Scissor Sisters and Beyonce. He is also currently one half of DJ/production duo The Carry Nation. Adam Joseph is a prolific producer, songwriter, and vocalist. He was featured on super-producer Bob Sinclar’s album Born in 69 with “The Way I Feel.” “Percolatin’” is a bumping dance track reminiscent of the '90s house scene. With its melodic keys, catchy vocal hook and infectious bass line, it is sure to become a future house classic. The release features remixes from fellow NYC DJ/producers Eli Escobar and Michael Magnan.

Eli Escobar is the quintessential New York City DJ. Over the past ten years he has built a reputation around his parties, emerging as one of the most talented DJs in the NY dance scene. His talent as a remixer is reflected in the wide range of artists who have sought him out to turn their songs into something specifically his own. The list boasts of work for Diplo, M.I.A., Britney Spears, Chromeo, Holy Ghost!, Pase Rock, and Amanda Blank. His remix for “Percolatin’” gets his signature acid treatment accompanied by some dark funky house beats and jackin’ vocals.

DJ/producer Michael Magnan dwells amongst the downtown music and fashion scene which inspires his creativity, which in-turn inspires others. Magnan fuses art, music. and fashion together on his popular blog Wickephobica and with his involvement in the House of Ladosha collective. He is also one half of the DJ/production duo Fatherhood along with Physical Therapy. His remix of “Percolatin’” is very reflective of his DJ style: dreamy runway.

Nita Aviance - Stranded in the Jungle EP (Get Up Recordings)

The second release of the year on Get Up Recordings comes from NYC-based DJ and producer Nita Aviance. In his relatively short production history, Nita has already logged remixes for Beyoncé, the Scissor Sisters, Le1f, Automagic, and Adam Joseph. He can also be heard as one half of the production teams Brooklyn Is Burning and The Carry Nation. The Stranded in the Jungle EP features three original tracks and three diverse remixes of main track “Morgan Freeman” from fellow New Yorkers Christy LovePyrimide, and TURSI.

“Morgan Freeman” kicks off the EP with its tribal drums and ultimately takes us on a transcendental jungle journey. Label co-owner Christy Love lends her touch to the original with a housier interpretation filled with infectious beats, key stabs, and rhythmic vocal samples. Pyrimade, a collective comprised of NYC DJ/producers Nita Aviance, Will Automagic, and Michael Magnan, gives the track a total voguing ballroom treatment. The most intriguing remix comes from TURSI. He completely re-imagines things by slowing down the BPM to a sway and adding layer upon layer of dark, sexy sounds.

The second original is titled “Dancefloor.” This straight-up house track takes influence from Nita’s work with The Cucarachas as The Carry Nation and the ’90s house sound.

The last cut on the EP, “Love in the Dark” features Barb Morrison. This is where Nita gets experimental and shows his deep-thinking production process by placing the samples throughout the fast tempo track in very a clever way.

These originals and remixes on the Stranded in the Jungle EP highlight Get Up Recordings’ attention to diverse artistry, pushing the envelope, and really digging deep into the house underground.

Orde Meikle (Slam / Soma) - “Cool grooves … will try these out.”

DJ Craig C (Pound Boys) - “Deep and dirty! Digging it …”

Brooklyn is Burning - Movin' 2 Fast (Get Up Recordings)

Get Up Recordings continues its steady string of top notch underground house music releases with “Movin’ 2 Fast” from the New York City-based collective Brooklyn is Burning (DJ Nita and Adam Joseph). DJ Nita is one of the most sought after DJs in the NYC underground club scene and has been creating a buzz with his production work, especially for his remixes for Scissor Sisters and Beyonce. He is also currently one-half of the DJ / production duo The Carry Nation. Adam Joesph is a prolific producer, songwriter, and vocalist. He was featured on super-producer Bob Sinclair’s album Born in 69 with the track, “The Way I Feel”. “Movin’ 2 Fast” is a straightforward dance track reminiscent of the ’90s house scene. The release includes three remixes, the first coming from Australian DJ / producers Stereogamous. The duo, who have done remixes for and collaborations with such artists as Kylie Minogue, George Michael, LCD Soundsystem, and The Presets, give the track a big room 2-step electro feel. Next up is Discodromo, the Italian DJ / producers residing deep in the Berlin music scene. Their remix is a departure from the usual nu-disco format as they bring a warehouse rave feel to the track. The final remix comes San Francisco’s Vin Sol, head honcho at Soo Wavey Records. His remix is packed to the brim with trippy minimal happy house vibes. Smiley face.
