Disappear - Iniquity (Harmonius Discord)

The camp at Harmonious Discord is proud to debut Inequity, an eight track album by Daniel Allen’s downtempo/electronica moniker, Disappear. A mix of synthetic soundscapes and earthly delights, Inequity showcases the broad understanding and musical range of the Austin, Texas native and label boss of Denied Music. HD has been working with Daniel to curate this special mix of music for the last year to maximize listener enjoyment of all its musical moments.

Selections like "Lojack," "Outrun," and "Under the Guise of Progress" pay heavy nods to Blade Runner soundscapes set atop swung, syncopated drum construction. "Safety Before Feelings" and "Syntonic Research" capture the same futuristic vibe with a much more ambient tone, focusing on the soundscapes and stripped-away drum additions. "Inequity" parodies the theme with a rounded Reese bass and more organic drum delivery. Rounding out the soundscape are tunes like "Too Late" and "Like Sand" that provide a much more organic appeal, weaving in acoustics and field sampling. Inequity is a surprisingly evenly-tempered mash of musical construction that showcases the other forms of Daniel’s mastery.

DJ Clairvo (Tilos Radio Budapest) – “This is such a warm and perfect release! I love those deep and catchy post-trip-hop-ish vibes! Full support!”
Clive Craske (RadioReverb, Brighton) – “Both playful and psychedelically deep, this album explores the integration of digital electronics, sample manipulation and analogue synthesis. Accomplished and effective as it is propulsive and mesmeric.”

Jeffrey Tice - Flying High (Harmonious Discord Recordings)

The kinetic style of San Francisco’s Jeffrey Tice has been on display over the past six years on Harmonious Discord. Jeffrey first asked us “Where Do We Go?” and then showed us the light with “Aurora”. Jeffrey then opened up the spectrum with “Chromatic” and now the label is happy to announce Jeffrey is back with a stratospheric compliment called “Flying High”. Jeffrey provides the easily danceable original and dub mixes while Denied Music label boss Daniel Allen and 1981US break convention with two dynamic broken beat remixes. 1981US makes his debut on HD with his innovative blend of electronica and garage.

“Flying High” bounces with excitement. Commanding tom drums and fluid hi-hats combine to provide a Chicago-style house music bumper with jazz-laden intercepts and acid-inspired bass lines. Familiar vocal treatments and resonated leads create a danceable mayhem. The dub mix features much of the same traditional underground house flair with a stronger focus on the jazz elements and the introduction of funk-inspired bass guitar. Mellow pads and chord rises deliver a sublime reprieve. Daniel Allen returns to the label to give the original a strong breakbeat interpretation with dynamic percussion and shifting melodies. Daniel’s mix utilizes rotating pitch changes to deliver a blissful music experience, focusing on fluid broken beats and elevating melodic elements. 1981US ups the tempo with a garage-inspired re-imagining with nods to early rave culture construction. This remix invokes an inviting sentiment and stands strong in the club and inside the headphones. The outro of the 1981US remix showcases this producer’s deep understanding of sonic manipulation, a perfect finish to the project.

Litex - Vessel (Harmonious Discord)

Litex, AKA Eric Reeves, is a staple in the seams of Harmonious Discord Recordings history. Alongside Pointbender, Eric was half of production duo Grey, releasing notable music in the early 2000s on the likes of Guidance Recordings, Fair Park, and Blunted Funk. Since the duo ceased efforts, Eric has crafted his unique sound with undertones of progressive rock, crystal clean production, and a knack for syncopated bass lines. Eric ended his hibernation last year, crafting a collection of original productions slated as an upcoming album. Also, he remixed Pablo del Monte for Harmonious Discord’s acclaimed 50th release.

One stand out production on the forthcoming album is “Vessel” – a warehouse-relevant, steamy techno machine. “Vessel” wraps together modern synth design, spacial placement, and percussive maturity. It’s a perfect taste of the onslaught of new Litex productions coming out in 2018.

On remix duties is New York resident and master of subtle brilliance Menahan Project. Dub-laden and packed with urban rumble this permutation offers a slow burn with character. Texas’s own Daniel Allen (Denied Music) returns to close the project with carefully crafted accents, rich synth sweeps, and ever more percussive layers. Daniel’s contribution helps build into any abstract territory the listener wishes to venture.

Nick Warren (The Soundgarden) – “The original mix is a bomb!”
Spettro (Get Physical Music) – “The Daniel Allen remix is excellent!”
Atish (Desert Hearts) – “I’m really enjoying the Menahan Dub.”
DJ Electric (Megapolis 89.5 FM) – “All of the versions are very good.”
Colin Dales (Abstrakt Dance Records) – “Cool project, I really like Daniel’s remix.”
Thelonious Funk (Thelonious Funk Sessions) – “All about the Menahan Project Dub.”
Zach Van Lue (91X) – “Love the subtle weaving of textures.”
Snooba (Radio Panik) – “Nice project, infectious remixes.”
André Bisseck (sHIFT Radio Show) – “Nice pads and bassline.”
Jon Fugler (XLNT radio show) – “Both the original and the Menahan Project Dub are sounding very strong.”
