audioJazz - Summer City Nights / My House (audioJazz Music)

Jazz-influenced harmonics and tech-inspired roots mix to create the distinct and eclectic sounds of audioJazz. DJ Bai-ee and musicians Dirty Turk and K Koltz collaborate to create imaginative music inspired by the house scenes of NYC and Chicago. The audioJazz sound is deeply rooted in house music’s past but feels like something soon to come, ‘future old school’ if you will. The trio has ties to New York and Oakland but came together in Chicago, bringing each of their pronounced influences to the group. The result is an exploratory selection of deep house with an inclusive attitude, often featuring vocalists and musicians from across the country.

Following up the more raw live tracked studio recordings of the '7 Inch Music Sessions', audioJazz provides a deep refresher with “Summer City Nights” and “My House”, newly prepped for vinyl release. "Summer City Nights" features the iconic voice of Yvonne Gage calling out for the return of summer nights after a long Chicago winter. Upbeat and hard-hitting, smooth soft pads, classic piano stabs, and a spongy bass line make for a '90s Windy City appeal. Starting off much softer, "My House" makes use of busy drums to propel the track forward before building into a swirl of psychedelic synths. audioJazz’s Dirty Turk steps in the booth to let everyone know whose house this is over a Juno bass that rides the line between deep and driving.

audioJazz - Contortion EP (audioJazz Music)

Jazz-influenced harmonics and tech-inspired roots mix to create the distinct and eclectic sounds of audioJazz. DJ Bai-ee and musicians Dirty Turk and K Koltz collaborate to create imaginative music inspired by the house scenes of NYC and Chicago. The audioJazz sound is deeply rooted in house music’s past but feels like something soon to come, ‘future old school’ if you will. The trio has ties to New York and Oakland but came together in Chicago, bringing each of their pronounced influences to the group. Following up on last year’s acclaimed “Momentum” single, audioJazz continues to showcase the diversity of their collective with four tracks of dissimilar style in the Contortion EP. “Cats Like That” combines classic jazz elements with a subtle drum swing, an echoing piano riff, and a bellowing bassline, accented by the narration of Roy Hardgrove. “Tech Again” peppers hypnotic bells across a dark minimal soundscape building into a mysterious atmosphere suiting the darkest of warehouses. “Black Dragon” features memorable keys chiming over heavy swinging drums as the sharp pad stab and room-shaking bass line break to highlight a haunting bridge and vocal drop. The final cut, “Your Love is Liquid,” brings soothing downtempo vibes like a pleasing afterglow. Christina Tamayo’s seductive vocal combines with engaging lyrics as trickling pianos and lush pads ride on top of a rolling sub-bass motif.

audioJazz - Momentum (audioJazz Music)

Sultry, deep vocals and jazz-influenced electronics mix to create the distinct and original sounds of audioJazz. DJ Bai-ee and musicians and K Koltz collaborate to create imaginative music, inspired by the dance music scenes of NYC and Chicago. The trio has ties to New York and Oakland but came together in Chicago, bringing each of their distinctive influences to the group. The result is a diverse selection of house music sounds with an inclusive attitude, often featuring vocalists and musicians from across the country.

audioJazz is pleased to present their first vinyl release on their self-titled audioJazz Music label. Representing the diversity of their collective this release touches on both deep house and broken beat influences. “Momentum" features mysterious-sounding pads with a heavy side stick rhythm, gently carrying the listener into a subtle piano hook and trumpet solo. It’s tailor made for the more discerning 120 BPM dance floors. "Take a Chance (Remix)" features a more traditional four-on-the-floor 808 kick as a hypnotic chord line filters in and out of the mix. Strange sounding vocal drops echo throughout as an understated acid bass line pushes to take over. The sound is deeply rooted in house music’s past but feels like something soon to come … "future old school" if you will. Undeniably, these are two engaging cuts from audioJazz sure to have selective DJs take notice.
