All Good Funk Alliance - Off-Kilter Funk (Super Hi-Fi Recordings)

All Good Funk Alliance are back on Super Hi-Fi Recordings with Off-Kilter Funk, a groovy EP consisting of three songs riding the pair's patented synth-funk sound. "On-Kilter" starts things off with beats, keys, and effects used in fun and inventive ways to create a clear winner for the dance floor. Next up is "Dream Kilter" featuring an unmistakable AGFA groove over a bit of squelchy '80s-inspired funk. This one's for the boogie lovers. "Down Kilter" lowers the tempo but still moves the floor in an irresistible late night style. Jazzy keys and a punchy low end make this cut move, and it unfolds nicely into a little island of sound.

Anthony Mansfield + JP Soul - Inner Demons / The Moving Song (Roam Recordings)

Roam Recordings has been operating out of San Francisco for over fifteen years. Once a small local label featuring forward thinking producers hailing from the Bay Area, it has since grown to become home to an international crew of top tier underground dance music talent.

With plans to make 2016 the best year yet, label boss JP Soul gets things started with his right hand man and SF rave lord Anthony Mansfield. The two have been finely honing their creepy crawly electronic sound as a duo over the past year and this latest release showcases their development as VIPs amongst San Francisco’s analog ‘rack pack’.

“Inner Demons” is a dark and witchy affair with acid tones, a haunting melody, and ominous sounds that seems to conjure creatures from the deep. Covert shuffling on late night dance floors is guaranteed. Flip the switch for “The Moving Song” which continues in this dark direction but with a tighter leash on its synthesized soundscape. A slinky groove for any discerning DJ’s set. Drop, spin, and roll.

With an early 2016 release schedule that includes Tone Of Arc, 40 Thieves, Tronik Youth, and Lokier there is a lot to look forward to from Roam Recordings this year.

Nick Warren - "Superb release!"
Tensnake - "'The Moving Song' is great."
Bruce Tantum (XLR8R) - "Love love love … especially the slightly ominous boogie-tech of 'Inner Demons'. Hot stuff!"
Severino (Horse Meat Disco) - "Yes … this is great!"

Rodion (Alien Alien / Gomma) - "I'm liking both tracks a lot!"

Simon Kirk (Stag Beetle Radio Show) - "These guys are on top form with a staggering two tracker … a master class in how to fuse differing elements creating something unique."
DJ Zach (Subtronic End Radio Show) - "A patient creeper for the witching hour …"

Ursula 1000 - Dancing Underground / Tropical Intention (Insect Queen Music)

"Dancing Underground" – taken off the new Ursula 1000 album Voyeur – features electro swing master Mocean Worker and Fort Knox Recordings funkster QDUP on live bass and vocoder. It channels that classic era of 'French Touch' filtered disco house madness but with a updated feel and a hint of Chic and Zapp for good measure. Here are two rocking remixes courtesy of Montreal's Fonkynson (Lisbon Lux Records), adding his future disco house flavor, and Ursula 1000's cosmic alter ego Quentin Quatro giving it that Kerri Chandler jack with added deep summer vibes.

Also from the Voyeur album, "Tropical Intention" keeps the poolside groove alive in this Latin house floor-filler. Pontchartrain (Whiskey Disco, Lovedancing) kicks up the tribal ballistics with his deep tech house rework while Barcelona's P.A. Sound pitch it down ever-so-slightly in a dark and dubby disco flip.

Nickodemus (Turntables on the Hudson) - "This is fun music!"
Tensnake - "The Pontchartrain remix of 'Tropical Intention' is nice."
Fort Knox Five - "Loving the super funky disco house … dance floor monsters."
Vanilla Ace - "The Fonkynson remix is cool."
Sleazy McQueen - "Pontchartrain makes a perfect transition from cresting a wave of Detroit disco editors to this punchy, energetic remix."
All Good Funk Alliance - "Hot!"
Bass Control (Ultra / Sirius XM) - "The Quentin Quatro remix is very strong and tight. It inspires me to put a set together just to include it!"
Rory Hoy (Howlin' Records) - "The Fonkynson mix of 'Dancing Underground' is just simply amazing!"
Al Bradley (3am Recordings) - "I'm digging the Quentin Quatro remix here … wicked disco-influenced vibes."
Severino (Horse Meat Disco) - "Yes … groovy!"
Yogi & Husky (Random Soul) - "Digging the electro boogie vibes on the Fonkynson remix."
Aja Allsop (Ketch A Vibe Radio Show) - "This warms the cockles of my heart!"
DJ Nova (Rodon FM, Greece) - "The P.A. Sound remix of 'Tropical Intention' will not disappoint the underground heads … imagine Yello jackin’ in Chicago."
Jamie Topham (CDPool) - "Ursula 1000 is on fire right now … both of the 'Dancing Underground' mixes are massive."

Sonz of the Pitch - Rola Pedra (Patsada Records)

The new year brings Patsada Records headquarters from Brussels to Montreal and the label's awaited 20th release. "Rola Pedra" is the latest from Sonz of the Pitch, a funky house music duo made up of Phil Nobel and Ricardo Martins. With previous releases including their well-received singles on Patsada and the Welcome Home EP for Gourmand Recordings, the pair look to light up global DJ booths and dance floors. The single begins with a deep-as-f%^k remix from French DJ / producer Joss Moog (Ondulé Recordings, Robsoul) which delicately strips "Rola Pedra" down to its intimate essentials, revealing an effective and tight after hours cut. JR From Dallas (Gourmand, Farris Wheel) is up next with a different approach, as he layers percussion and key hits over a prominent bass line, all to a deliriously funky effect. The 'B side' of the single reveals two versions from Sonz of the Pitch, starting with the somewhat jackin' Downtown Mix. Punchy rhythms and a patient build lead to a fun breakdown that introduces an intoxicating vocal loop. The Uptown Mix then gets down-and-dirty, laying on some '80s-sounding funk synth riffs, a bit of intricate snare action, and another appearance of the previous mix's vocal hook. "Rola Pedra" is here to get the party in motion.

Mark Farina - "Some hotness here!"
Giom - "Joss Moog remix for me."
Jason Hodges - "This whole EP is fire!"
DJ Heather - "Dope. Digging the Uptown Mix and the Joss Moog remix as well."
DJ Craig C (Pound Boys) - "This is some deep house I can get down with! Top notch."
Pumpkin (Jumpsuit Records) - "That Downtown Mix is the business!"
Hollis P Monroe - "The Joss Moog remix is a cool one."
Andrew Macari (Greenhouse / Tastie) - "Dope slice!"
Pete Williams (Natural Rhythm) - "Great EP. I especially like the JR From Dallas remix."
DJ EMan (Liberate Recordings) - "Joss Moog's remix is tight."
Diz (Iz & Diz / Vizual) - "Ahh yeah!"
Richie Hartness (untitledmusic) - "Joss Moog's remix and the Uptown Mix are gems."
Jean Jérome (Radio FG / Kut 'N' Paste) - "Great vibes, wicked drums … love it!"
Simon Kirk (Stag Beetle Radio Show) - "Top class! The JR From Dallas remix is killer, and a little special mention goes to that fabulous vocal refrain on the Uptown Mix. I love the range of sounds here."
