All Good Funk Alliance feat. Swamburger - Raised On Ten (Super Hi-Fi Recordings)

Eight years after Social Comment, the acclaimed collaborative album from All Good Funk Alliance and Swamburger, the two forces of beat-nature have joined up once again for the rousing 6-track EP Raised on Ten. All Good Funk Alliance consists of Frank Cueto (Vested Soul) and Rusty Belicek (Late Night Workshop), a production duo that's always ready to let the rhythm hit 'em. Swamburger is an MC's MC, one-half of the duo Mugs and Pockets, and previously of Solillaquists of Sound, who is never at a loss for crafty lyrical wordplay. Raised on Ten delivers a delicious stew of bass, breakbeats, and potent rhymes in an old-school style that'll thrill a diverse menagerie of DJs and listeners. It's boom bap to the max.

The tone is set from the start with "That's Deep," a full-on display of DC-flavored go-go beatology, devastating bass drops, rollicking piano riffs, and Swamburger getting his point across in the funkiest manner. "Face The Polls" furthers the groovy mayhem, complete with the staccato stabs and growling bass bits that All Good Funk Alliance is known for. There are also a couple of slower, pensive cuts, like the evocative and spacious "Nursery Rhymes." These nostalgic moments bring home one inspiration for the EP — Swamburger and Frank both lost their mothers during the recording of Raised on Ten, and the release's title is indeed a reference Swam's mom.

The entire EP is captivating, both for its musical and lyrical prowess. Whether grooving on a packed-out dancefloor, cruising on a sunny afternoon, or chilling at home with the ones you treasure, Raised on Ten will shoot vibes straight into the heart as well as the hips.

Vested Soul - Unite Forever (Super Hi-Fi Recordings)

Frank Cueto of All Good Funk Alliance unleashes the latest from his sly synth-funk side-project, Vested Soul. This double A-side single begins with "Vibin," featuring deep keys, skippy beats, rhythmic vocal drops, and swirly textures that will effortlessly charm the most sophisticated of dance floors. Flip the virtual wax for "Unite Forever" — this cut's deceptively mellow intro leads into some serious go-go inspired downtempo beats. Vested Soul's trademark smooth chords and layered synth melodies add a futuristic spacefaring vibe to the track's percussive foundation. Delightfully modern and nightclub potent, Vested Soul can be counted on to drop the stylistic flavors.

Ursula 1000 (Insect Queen Music) – “I was lucky enough to grab this early on. Sooooo good!”
Morphosis (The Hong Kong Ping Pong Club) – “Yep, this is tasty!”
Mr. Bristow (Subtek) – “Groovy and Synthy. Nice!”
Quincy Jointz (Timewarp Music Radio Show) – “Super tunes. Will play both on my radioshows.”
Aja Allsop (Ketch A Vibe Radio Show) – “Gloriously Groovey.”
Adam Straus (The Church of the Open Mind Art Car) – “Both tracks will get played. Solid production as one expects from Frank. Vibin’ will definitely get the dancefloor going.”

Mr. Moustache feat. Lauren Joy - DiscoVenture (Super Hi-Fi Recordings)

Czech-born and Los Angeles-based producer Dominik Novak goes by Mr. Moustache, creating tunes that draw from French electro, disco pop, and filtered deep house sounds. He busts forth in the year 2020 with “DiscoVenture,“ a classy single featuring the lovely vocals of Lauren Joy. The song evokes imaginings of a packed dance floor at Studio 54 and Nile Rogers dropping sound-blessings from the heavens — joyous and funky. Top notch remixes come from All Good Funk Alliance who punch up the disco vibe into pure beach party territory; and Trotter, adding a slinkier, bass-heavy groove with killer results. These cuts are ready for some prime time moves!

All Good Funk Alliance - Let's Execute (Super Hi-Fi Recordings)

The dynamic duo is back! All Good Funk Alliance return to Super Hi-Fi Recordings with Let’s Execute, a four-song EP filled to the brim with prime time funkiness. The Alliance — comprised of Frank Cueto and Rusty Belicek — have delivered their brand of tightly produced electronic jams for over 20 years and Let’s Execute is another essential piece in their funky equation.

The title track sets things off with potent mid-tempo breakbeats and silky synth action. Enter the formidable voice of Big Stuff whose Big Daddy Kane-style flow connects the old and new schools. Paying homage to their DC-locale, the Funk Alliance next deliver “Control Your Roll” which is anchored in swinging go-go style rhythms. Black Masala adds some serious horns, creating a cool call-and-response with the synth lines and the overall groove. Vocalists Heidi Martin and the late Mustafa Akbar join the Alliance on “To The People,” a soulful cut with an uplifting, positive message — much needed in these times. The more up-tempo, four-on-the-floor “That Chord” closes out the EP, ending things on a stylish rush-to-the-dancefloor tip. Top jams successfully executed!
