Ursula 1000 - System Of Touch feat. Most Golden (Insect Queen Music)

The fifth and final release of Ursula 1000's acclaimed Single Of The Month Club series brings a jam-packed punch of synthwave and nu-disco slow motion goodness called "System Of Touch." The tune features the dreamy vocal stylings of Canada via Ghana via New York David Adusei AKA Most Golden.

David brings a nice future R&B Neo-Soul touch to the table as Ursula works his '80s neon-synth landscape for this retro/futuro vision. As a bonus, there are some fantastic remixes accompanying the original cut. The Supermen Lovers (AKA Parisian composer and producer Guillaume Atlan, creator of the hit single "Starlight" and of the current smasher "Summer Love") come with a double dose of new versions, filled with sinister arpeggios and dubbed out techy disco house splashed with that very tasty 'French Touch.' And then San Francisco's The Beat Broker, owner of the awesome Dream Chimney label, wraps up the package with a blissed-out daytime disco tweak providing Balearic visions of sunrises and tropical tastings. Superb!

Steve (Fort Knox Five) – “Dreamy, retro and futuristic all at the same time as only Ursula 1000 can do.”
Psycho-Jones (Kater Blau) – “Wow! Each version is a killer.”
Bill Speakman (Rhythm & Culture) – “I love the single mix, but this Beat Broker Remix is particularly up my alley. Incredible vibe.”
MGiK (Sofa Surfing) – “On air is a must for this!”
Bruno From Ibiza (Ibiza Global Radio) – “I am liking both of The Supermen Lovers remixes.”
Spaceotter (Camp Conception) – “Extended mix is giving me mid-80s Scritti Politti/System vibes. And that is a VERY good thing.”

Ursula 1000 - Don't Cheat The Beat feat. activity partners (Insect Queen Music)

New York's Ursula 1000, the wizard of the retro/futuro sound, is back with his Single of the Month Club series! Ursula was riding high off the fumes from his chart-topping 2019 album Esoterique, but with the world on pause last year, Ursula got cracking, working his unique continental pop sound for a new batch of goodies.

Right on schedule, the new year brings another new song from Ursula 1000's incredible series of new tunes: "Don't Cheat The Beat" featuring activity partners!

On their Bandcamp page it says, "activity partners is Jeff Knutsen and Darren O'Brien making funk in Brooklyn, NY". And, so far, they've got three singles of silky disco soul filtered through a smooth FM nu-Yacht Rock lens. When the opportunity to collaborate came to the plate, Ursula 1000 took a big swing.

"Don't Cheat The Beat" does exactly all those things just described. All 4 minutes and 12 seconds of this belter are made to make folks sweat on the dancefloor. Ursula brings in a little French Touch vibe to it, too, and as Darren sings, the "120 BPMs got me moving all my limbs!" Give it a spin!

Steve (Fort Knox Five) – “Top of the Pop charts with this one! French yacht rock? Whatever it is, I love it.”
DJ T-Bird (Something Else!) – “Nice groove and fun track. I expect to get great feedback from the punters on this one.”
Soul of Man (Finger Lickin’ Records) – “Yes! Sounding very Kraak & Smaakesque. Nice vibes.”
Velanche (Urban Landscapes Show) – “A really solid and funky groover.”
Michael Fossati (Spirit of House Web Zine) – “Groovysexylicious.”
Curtiss Logan (Cyberjamz Radio) – “Hot release. Full support on this one.”
Jon Fugler (XLNT radio show) – “A perfect reason to dust off those disco slippers. Lovely.”

Jack & Jointz feat. Ashley Slater - Holy Water (Søndae Records)

Søndae Records is back with the second single from Jack & Jointz. The duo — comprised of German producers Quincy Jointz and Thorsten Walter — have teamed up again with legendary singer Ashley Slater. Ashley, of course, is known as the vocalist for Freak Power, as well as his supercharged collaborations with Rory Hoy. He’s become a regular (virtual) fixture in the Jack & Jointz studio, providing vocals for five songs on their debut album. And now it’s time for the latest — “Holy Water.”

“Holy Water” is a break-up song. But how does a break-up song sound with a singer like Ashley? One can guess it won’t be in schmaltzy ballad territory. Instead it’s something groovy, with funky bass and chunky mid-tempo beats. London-based Lucia La Rezza adds beautiful violin melodies for extra musical layers over Jack & Jointz' crisp production. And Ashley’s distinctive vocals excel — emotive and affecting, it’s the sound of a pro at the top of his game.

The single also includes an instrumental for bonus DJ action. Get soaked in some “Holy Water!”

Kid Loco (Flor) – “I love Ashley’s singing, this is great.”
Mr. Bristow (Subtek) – “Nice track, great vocal performance. Awesome work.”
Rory Hoy (Super Hi-Fi) – “Awesome work as always. Definitely supporting.”
Mined Music (Søndae Records) – “This tune has so much flavor. Love it!”
FineCutBodies (Chi Recordings) – “Love it. Søndae seems to be on fire!“
Prosper (DJ Prosper) – “Nice vibes, melancholy and melodic. Well done!”
Matt Sonzala (Radio KAOS) – “This slams for real, and I will be playing it on the show.”
Floored Capri (Kane FM) – “Cool joint this. Holier than Jack and fresher than water.”
Lakatos Sandor Suefo (Radio Tilos 90.3 FM) – “Ashley + Violin? Yes! And working well. Nice tune.”
Jon Wesley (Music Goes On Radio Show) – “Love it! I’m a fan of Ashley Slater, so I know I would like it even before I heard it.”

Mr. Moustache feat. Lauren Joy - DiscoVenture (Super Hi-Fi Recordings)

Czech-born and Los Angeles-based producer Dominik Novak goes by Mr. Moustache, creating tunes that draw from French electro, disco pop, and filtered deep house sounds. He busts forth in the year 2020 with “DiscoVenture,“ a classy single featuring the lovely vocals of Lauren Joy. The song evokes imaginings of a packed dance floor at Studio 54 and Nile Rogers dropping sound-blessings from the heavens — joyous and funky. Top notch remixes come from All Good Funk Alliance who punch up the disco vibe into pure beach party territory; and Trotter, adding a slinkier, bass-heavy groove with killer results.
