Mr. Moustache feat. Lauren Joy - DiscoVenture (Super Hi-Fi Recordings)

Czech-born and Los Angeles-based producer Dominik Novak goes by Mr. Moustache, creating tunes that draw from French electro, disco pop, and filtered deep house sounds. He busts forth in the year 2020 with “DiscoVenture,“ a classy single featuring the lovely vocals of Lauren Joy. The song evokes imaginings of a packed dance floor at Studio 54 and Nile Rogers dropping sound-blessings from the heavens — joyous and funky. Top notch remixes come from All Good Funk Alliance who punch up the disco vibe into pure beach party territory; and Trotter, adding a slinkier, bass-heavy groove with killer results. These cuts are ready for some prime time moves!

Rory Hoy - Flamingo at the Disco (Super Hi-Fi Recordings)

Rory Hoy returns to Super Hi-Fi Recordings with “Flamingo In The Disco”, a delirious dance floor number that draws heavily from the age of disco and classic summertime radio sounds. With an unstoppable beat, groovy synth riffs, funky blasts of horns and guitar, and uplifting vocals, “Flamingo In The Disco” could easily summon the specter of a shining disco ball in the darkest of rooms.

A stellar set of remixes have been beamed down from All Good Funk Alliance, Trotter, Ursula 1000, and the mysterious Mr. Moozit. AGFA accomplish the uber-groovy with a sleek version that twists the original elements into a future-tinged affair. Trotter adds some meaty breaks to the disco, while Ursula 1000 gives the cut a classic-sounding Arthur Baker-ish treatment. Meanwhile, Mr. Moozit debuts with a skippy house mix complete with rousing piano chords and punchy cut-ups of the vocals. What ‘cha gonna do, flamingo?

Ulysses (Neurotic Drum Band) – “I like both the funk bass of the AGFA remix and the 80's Italo Funk on the Ursula 1000 version. Hot stuff.”
Chris Massey (Paper Recordings) – “Love the flavors from Ursula 1000 here.”
Lenny Fontana (Ministry of Sound) – “Mr. Moozit makes a funky disco remix!”

Chango (101.5 FM KTKE) – “This track is fantastic, but the AGFA remix really brings the funk to 11.”
Dean Serafini (Frisky Rhythms) – “Every single mix works for me. I love the disco and 80’s groove flavors on the first 4 mixes, but the Mr. Moozit Remix with those bounding keys is my pick!”

Rory Hoy vs. Kitten & The Hip - Dirty Little Secret (Super Hi-Fi Recordings)

Following on his previous single for Super Hi-Fi Recordings – the boisterous "Hey Everybody!" – Rory Hoy has delivered a summertime heater in collaboration with Brighton duo Kitten & The Hip. "Dirty Little Secret" qualifies as capital 'F' funk, with a Prince-esque stew of choppy guitar, popped bass lines, pitch-bent synth chords, and a crisp, rollicking rhythm track. Kitten & The Hip – otherwise known as the duo of Scarlett Quinn (vocalist with Netsky and Mark Lower) and Ashley Slater (Freakpower) – respectively deliver a sexy-time vocal and a cheeky rap that adds the fuel to this funky fire. "Dirty Little Secret" is also presented in remixed form, and the line-up is appropriately out-of-control. Ursula 1000, Fort Knox Five, Brazil's Trotter, and the collaboration of Turntill and Merlin all push the envelope of the original's party-time dancing-in-the-sunshine vibe. There's plenty here to give the dance floor a stratospheric boost … this groove's a secret no more.

Ursula 1000 - "Really, all the mixes kick ass. Fort Knox 5 wins by a hair."
Nick Catchdubs (Fool's Gold) - "Smooth."

Jamie Topham (CDPool) - "Great original cut and remix package. Rory Hoy and friends always get the party going."
DJ Nova (Rodon FM, Greece) - "It's just a sexy funky disco groove … sunshine recommended!"

Angel Funke - Disco Nights (Super Fi-Fi Recordings)

Angel Funke descends on the Super Hi-Fi universe from Barcelona, delivering a nifty slice of disco breaks for the label’s tenth release. Angel Funke is a bit of a mystery, but he has previously made contact with deep and jazzy house style releases on the likes of Novo Music and Simposio. His debut with Super Hi-Fi is “Disco Nights,” a cool dance-floor cut complete with growling bass and a fine shuffle break, perfectly bridging the space between nu-disco and funkier, jazzy offerings. Greek DMC champ DJ Kid Stretch next remixes the song in an almost full-on live style with crisp drums, funky organ, rousing percussion, and a complete horn section. Then Brazil’s Trotter takes “Disco Nights” in a more modern direction, cutting up the samples and creating a groove with a 303-style bass line that materializes after the drop. Super Hi-Fi’s own B-Team step up to deliver a dizzying FX-laden future-boogie version spiced with vocoder bits and some tough latin percussion flair to take their version over the edge. Finally, Canadian house-meister Spiltmilk drops “Disco Nights” into a deep Idjut Boys-like dubby groove anchoring dirty guitar and a groovy bassline for potent after-hours power. The remixes in this latest package from Super Hi-Fi are all unique and varied, but still manage to tell the story of “Disco Nights.” DJs rejoice!

Danny Ward (Dubble D / Moodymanc) - “Brilliant party pack!”
Sleazy McQueen - “Fonky.”
Stereo 77 - “The Spiltmilk Remix is heavy! I can’t wait to use it this weekend.”
Severino (Horse Meat Disco) - “Funky … funky … fun!”
Omegaman - “Dope selection here from Super Hi-Fi. I really dig all of the mixes … too hard to choose a favorite from these tasty treats.”
Tal M. Klein - “Wow, the Spiltmilk remix is exactly the sort of vibe that I’m playing right now. It will likely be in my next mix. Well done!”
Kosmas Epsilon (Epsilon Trax) - “Super Hi-Fi rocks my world! Nice one … old-school vibes, nu-school production.”
Thomas Pudell (Black Alley) - “Trotter is hitting the spot here for me … liking his Brazilian funk!”
Clairvo (Tilos Radio) - “Each track is a winner, but for my taste the best would be Kid Strecth’s remix. Been missing this sort of happy funky breaks so much!”
Double-D (Funky Fresh Radio Show) - “B-Boy-Breaks rockin’ … dope!”
