Reggie Got Beats - On The Floor 2020 (Beatservice Records)

Reggie Got Beats is busting out from the south shore of the Trondheim Fjord, bringing his funky electronic Nordic disco to the masses. A triple threat — DJ, producer, and drummer — Reggie’s tunes jump among the spaces found between soul, house, R&B, and disco. Since 2015, Reggie Got Beats has turned heads and delighted ears through releases for the likes of Diskorama, NDYD, Paper Recordings, and Midnight Riot and his work with RGB Unit, his live band. Reggie Got Beats is a force to be reckoned with — on the dance floor!

Reggie Got Beats returns to Beatservice with “On The Floor”, a track that first appeared as a 2016 Bandcamp-only release on Diskorama. Here it’s been overhauled, remastered, and re-remixed for the year 2020. “On The Floor” is a groovy afrobeat-inspired deep disco number featuring Rohey Taalah singing a familiar and rousing refrain. The instrumentation percolates, with bouncy bass lines, filtered synth pads, and gritty rhythms. Included is original extended Dub version from Ralph Myerz (Klik Records, Disco Piñata) and a brand new mix from Tromsø’s own Third Attempt (Beatservice, Paper Recordings). The latter intensifies the funk quotient in a Prince-like fashion, sure to inspire a round of booty shaking. Get on the floor!

All Good Funk Alliance - Let's Execute (Super Hi-Fi Recordings)

The dynamic duo is back! All Good Funk Alliance return to Super Hi-Fi Recordings with Let’s Execute, a four-song EP filled to the brim with prime time funkiness. The Alliance — comprised of Frank Cueto and Rusty Belicek — have delivered their brand of tightly produced electronic jams for over 20 years and Let’s Execute is another essential piece in their funky equation.

The title track sets things off with potent mid-tempo breakbeats and silky synth action. Enter the formidable voice of Big Stuff whose Big Daddy Kane-style flow connects the old and new schools. Paying homage to their DC-locale, the Funk Alliance next deliver “Control Your Roll” which is anchored in swinging go-go style rhythms. Black Masala adds some serious horns, creating a cool call-and-response with the synth lines and the overall groove. Vocalists Heidi Martin and the late Mustafa Akbar join the Alliance on “To The People,” a soulful cut with an uplifting, positive message — much needed in these times. The more up-tempo, four-on-the-floor “That Chord” closes out the EP, ending things on a stylish rush-to-the-dancefloor tip. Top jams successfully executed!

Sixfingerz - Silent Storm (Cold Busted)

Antwerpian beat-wrangler Sixfingerz returns to Cold Busted for Silent Storm, his latest crucial long-player. Sixfingerz has established himself through six albums (also for the likes of Wegrowwax and Pragmatic Theory), with his last full length adapted into a theater performance. Sixfingerz also has the distinction of winning the legendary Stones Throw Beat Battle series around 20 times in a three year period. It goes without saying — his beats are strong.

Silent Storm continues Sixfingerz’s fascination with atmospheric textures and warm, vintage sounds. His influences are global, drawing upon instruments and styles from all over the world. Sixfingerz aptly describes his tracks as “an adventure into somewhere” — he’s merging disparate influences to create new territories. This is heard on the album’s “Breeze,” uniting potent hip hop beats with traditional Asian flavors to a dreamy effect. There’s also the gentle, guitar-strummed “Sol” which helps to bring out the sun in the darkest night. “Derecho” is a cinematic piece that’s part spaghetti western, part folk song, and part bass-beat concoction. And there’s “Heart Of The City,” which revs things up with a big rhythm but keeps the musical wonder intact.

Sixfingerz continues to stretch boundaries and Silent Storm is a bold and enjoyable statement. Take this adventure into somewhere exotic and groovy.

DJ Morpheus (Lysergic Factory Radio Show) – “Derecho and Oceanbound are the tracks that I’m digging here.”
Salvo Borrelli (Garam Masala Radioshow) – “Great atmosphere on this one.”
Hober Mallow (Mighty Reel, Sydney) – “Love the washed out feel on For The Rain. Great EP.”
Matt Sonzala (Radio KAOS) – “Why is Antwerp one of the coolest musical cities on the earth? I want to live there for a while. It's so amazing and so is this EP.”

Reggie Got Beats - It's On Tonight 2020 (Beatservice Records)

Reggie Got Beats is a producer, DJ, drummer, and disco connoisseur hailing from Trondheim, Norway. Seeking influences from all things groovy and funky, his music touches ground near genres like soul, disco, house, pop and R&B. No matter the style, Reggie delivers tracks and DJ sets that toe a fine line between the immediate and the challenging without landing too heavy on either side. Since his launch in 2015, Reggie has steadily gained traction as a DJ, producer, and as a live act with his band RGB Unit. Through releases on Diskorama, NDYD, Paper Recordings, Midnight Riot and VIER he's established a straight up funky sound, bringing his warm and dusty grooves to festivals and clubs in the cold north.

Reggie Got Beats returns to Beatservice with "It's On Tonight”, a track originally released as a 2016 Bandcamp-only release on Diskorama. He’s overhauled the track for a new decade, energizing the audio for electrifying dance floors. "It's On Tonight" is a modernized ’80s boogie-stomper, with sleek synth riffs and sexy party-time vocals from Kari Eskild. It grooves and bops like a forgotten classic, ready to set positive vibes in any room it’s heard. Ralph Myerz (Klik Records, Disco Piñata) delivers the first remix, diving deeper into the rhythm and transporting the tune into a late night cruise over a neon-flecked cityscape. Next is a remix by Lakeshouse (Paper Recordings) that aims straight for the club zone. Punchy synths and a four-on-the-floor bounce propel the vocal line to new heights, creating the sound of peak-time celebration. Solid gold.
